Princess Masha will win. If she doesn't, it means she's still injured. Or tired. Sarcasm. She'll run into one of the sistas and get whomped again.

From the "Thank Heavens for Small Miracles" department: Renata Voracova (CZE)[15] def Brenda Schultz-mccarthy (NED) 3-6 6-2 6-4 Okay. YOU'RE DONE PLAYING TENNIS NOW. Bit harsh. It's funny with players like Voracova, they play fairly badly in challengers, don't do a lot through the year, and yet will always spring the odd surprise result, before going back to medocrity. Brenda needs to learn that slicing will not help you back to the Top 100. I saw those youtube videos, and her normal shots aren't THAT bad. Serena and Venus are playing doubles! I wonder if they will achieve the same feat in 2002 when there final thrashed the mens final in viewing figures in Britain.

Not a bad day for the Chicas Latinas, despite Betina's heartbreaking 12-14 in the 3rd loss. But Jenifer Widjaja , PAOLITA SUAREZ, Jorgi Cravero, Pitu, and Rossana are all through. From the other side of the world, Akgul the Friendly Giant, Tiny Erika Takao, and Little Ayumi won. Akgul is on a Slam rampage! (which will probably end when she plays Cirstea tomorrow, but still!) And Little A seems to be very competent on grass.

Two other epic three setters today, one lost by fanboy favourite Cibulkova (8-10), the other won by Cravero (8-6).
Was the cutoff for "the English Open" qualies significantly lower than for "the French"? It seems so; the draw looks weak.

Jorgi Cravero won again! This time, in 2 easy sets; no more of that 8-6 in the 3rd for her. PAOLITA is underway -- what a kind draw, facing Gabba in Qr2! Paolita's taking advantage, off to a decent start: 4-0.

Wow, Akgul! It's actually a bad loss for Sorana, but Akgul needs the points and the £££ more. I hope she qualifies. Some odd scores today: Ozegovic over Cohen-Alor 6-1, 1-6, 8-6; and Morita over Takao 6-1, 6-7, 6-1. Suarez will be a tough ask for Little Ayumi but I hope she does it. Also happy to see Yan Zi doing well, with her limited schedule every tournament counts. And Alina Jidkova only needs to beat rubbish Snorova to qualify I hope Hsieh beats Johansson - re: that story from RG about Font de Mora turning up in ALG's opponent's box...her opponent was Johansson, and surely she must have actively invited/permitted him to sit there? That's a cunty, cunty thing to do.

ALG was playing Johansson, and her evil ex-coach (and widely thought to be also her ex-lover) RFDM planted himself in the 2nd row, either in or near Johansson's box, to psych her out. And ALG freaked out about it.

Here's a translation of a German article about it -- the article was posted by GoDom at wtaworld:
But after her first-round-loss at the most important claycourt tournament, Anna-Lena Grönefeld reached a new low. At the third day of the Grand-Slam-Tournament in Paris, even the number 126 of the world was too much of an challenge for Grönefeld, who fell from number 14 to number 57 in the world within a year.
"I decided the match myself, in a negative way. That's a mental thing" she said. "I tried to stay positiv, but that's not easy in this situation".
What she meant by saying this, Grönefeld only explained later. Her former coach Rafael Font de Mora was sitting demonstratively in the second row. "In the opponents box! That wasn't exactly helping me, cause I wasn't able to get my head free" said Grönefeld and couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
