From 3-0 to 3-3. They are both playing well. I hate Wimbledon but I do think grass tends to bring out the best in the women's game.

Bartoli serving at 4-5. Let's see how she's gonna do.

Oh, not well. Well, I mean...she came back from a set down against both Jankovic and Henin. Venus is no better than those two players on a day-to-day basis, even though she is playing exceptionally well at the moment. There is no reason why Bartoli should think she can't come back here and give up, UNLESS that Williams mystique is still present. And if it is...

Well...hey. Could have been a lot worse, scoreline-wise. But I blame Alla Kudryavtseva for this. She goes right next to Davenport in the Hall of Shame.

Lol. The "mystique" will never die.
Well, a positive is that this wasn't as bad as 2005.
Now, let's enjoy another couple years of Venus being spoken of as #2 below her sista, while she goes back to mostly losing in early rounds to anyone decent.

I put more blame on Kuznetsova. That was one of those "mystique" matches. Sweta never thought she had a chance. I didn't watch the Shriekapova match for obvious reasons, so I don't know.

I hate Wimbledon but I do think grass tends to bring out the best in the women's game. It's always been this way, ever since when I began following tennis back in the mid 1990s. Women's claycourt tennis back then was unwatchable - what we now see in clay TIVs was how everyone but the very elite played at the time. I watched the first set and some crumbs of the second of Disgusting Moonballer Nudd-Ahl def. Future World #1 Nole. Nole was dead tired, could barely move and wasn't even trying, yet he took a set off Nudd-Ahl. But when Nole got broken early on the second, I knew it was over and stopped the tape. I don't buy that crap about Nudd-Ahl's "aggresive" game. He's just playing the way he does everywhere else, moonballing and running from side to side like a windscreen wiper. Marion was awesome. She did bring her best tennis. Can't quite believe this was the least bad women's Slam final this year.

Marion's Dad. I have to admit the moment between him and Richard Williams was nice.

Awww! Two crazy-like-a-fox dads communing. That was cute! I wouldn't blame Sveta; from the R16 on, Venus was essentially a different player. Not as devastatingly good as in 2005, but sharp and controlled and efficient and total money on important points. I really have no idea how she can turn her game around like that, from the total shit of the first week to the championship material of the second. I've no idea whether I want Venus to go back to sucky early round losses, or to reascend and stop pissing around. Her speech was a nice reminder of why I once liked her. Good to see that Marion enjoyed herself out there! Joining in the Mexican wave and so on. She played well, too, it's just that Venus came up with bigger shots every time the score went to 30-30. I wonder where her career will go now.
