That Miami match didn't hurt Serena much... Ugh, I hated that match. I would have a won a t-shirt if Justine won! What preytell does the Henin/S. Williams Miami match have to do with anything? But I'm sorry you didn't win a t-shirt. Henin is making Serena look clumsy once again and leads by a set and 5-1. Serena's footwork is porous and Justine is taking advantage of that again. And I don't think Serena can improve her footwork in the future because she's heavy, heavy legged, is getting older for a tennis player and has had numerous injuries to her lower extremities that have helped slow her down.

I did get a bit uneasy when she went 5-1 up. She has to win the whole thing now. Even if JJ somehow gets past Venus, I'm cheering against her in the semis.

Why, didn't you see Justine beat Serena the French Open and Wimbledon this year? Henin is the better player this year and has superior skills as well.

Match was already in the TB when I remembered I did have a stake in it - the online games. I picked Henin for this 1/4 of the draw in all of them. I'm curious as to what Serena's excuses will be this time.
There's a photo of Mattek's leopard spots outfit in the "Doubles" gallery at the USO website. Check it at your own peril.

I'm more positive about her chances now. From what I understand she choked big time when she played Serena at Wimbledon. I didn't see any signs of that tonight. The second set was in fact uncharacteristically good, without the usual lapses. Maybe someone finally convinced her that she really is a great player.

She definitely had a haaaaaaaaard time closing the Wimbledon match out.
Ugh. Venus next. I would love her to shut that whole H2H situation down. But Venus always loves avenging her sister. I don't have a good feeling. I hope Thursday will be very busy at work.

I think Henin will be ready to play well in the semi's against Venus. And Justine is getting top notch coaching from the stands too.

Um if Jelena wins her match, this tournament will have been an unqualified success. I honestly don't care who wins after that. If Penis wins, it's still horrible but we'll have had some good times along the way.

Serena at the net is the funniest thing since Serena hitting 'slice' backhands at Wimbledon. She swung her racquet like it was a boat oar or something. I do think it's kinda sad that Serena has eight Grand Slam titles, all without ever learning how to volley. She's a great athlete, she's so powerful, blah blah blah, but you wouldn't think somebody could be #1 with such glaring inabilities. Contrast that with Justine, the consummate shotmaker. It's not hard to prefer her in these battles. When I watch tennis, I'd like to see players who are better at everything than I could ever be. But watching Serena tonight ... yeah, I can also miss a sitter volley by 10 feet too. So hey, maybe we'll wind up looking back on 2002-03 differently some day. After all, Hingis was hurt; then retired, Davenport was hurt, Pierce was dead, etc. By the way, John and Tracy made me puke when they wanted the USO to make up their own seedings. Yeah, that's worked SO WELL for Wimbledon, hasn't it? John actually said Venus should've been seeded #2 or #3 at Wimbledon this year. HELLO. SHE WAS OUT OF THE TOP 30!!!! And it didn't really matter, did it? She won. Her draw mattered not. Next year, she'll go back to losing in the third round and John and Tracy can shove it up their asses for another year.
