Carlos is being an idiot. Nobody comes off looking good here.
Sometimes watching stand coaching can be quite entertaining. Remember the way Lundgren was yelling at Safin at Roland Garros two years ago? That was fun.

Bjorkman is a lot better at imitating players. There should be a time limit when challenging a call. The player should do so immediately. Not be given time to carefully look at the mark on the court and check with their box. The main complaint before this started was that it would take too much time... and the players themselves are taking most of it.

It's so hilarious that this is a big deal at wtaworld. Where have these kids been? here's a mini, quick, top-of-my-head list of coaches I've seen caught on tv sending signals:
Melanie Molitor someone who was coaching Arantxa (she was notorious for it) Oracene Yuri Carlos
If I had a better memory, I'd be able to name a lot more, but the point is, it goes on -- everyone knows it goes on -- but no one is ever supposed to own up to it. Carlos has put the WTA on the spot by admitting it openly, because if they go after him for it, they'll have to go after others, that is to say, everyone. And that embarrasses the WTA.

Justine should fire Carlos--not for being a dick or giving signals--but for being a poor coach.
JH is better off at the baseline unless she hits a perfect approach shot. That long match against Capriati wouldn't have been so long except JH kept going to net at stupid times and getting passed.
He also once told JH to hit all her shots down the middle against Mauresmo to not give her any angles. That kind of strategy is appropriate for a weakling against say, Peenus Williams; not for JH against Amelie.

I wonder if Demented's mom has ever sent her signals? What would she signal, I wonder: "Don't double fault again" ?

Yesterday, Papa Williams said Serena should have skipped the Open and said her "lucky" remark referred to the Belgian being fortunate that Serena was hurt.
According to Papa Williams, Serena was not only bothered by a healing left thumb but also played with an undisclosed hamstring pull and had left-knee swelling from a past operation. Serena flew back home to Florida because of her injuries and won't be on hand for Venus' possible coronation.
"Serena shouldn't have played this tournament," Papa Williams said. "She wasn't in a position to play. She couldn't bend her knees at all. Her thumb was hurting from being fractured. She played with a pulled hamstring that should've been wrapped like a mummy. Her doctors tried to get her not to play. I tried to get her not to play. She shouldn't have been here. That's why she felt Justine hit lucky shots because she couldn't move."
Papa Williams has been known to stretch the truth, but the man who created the Williams-sisters phenomenon did not want to give Henin any further motivation. No player has taken out both Williams sisters in a tournament since Martina Hingis pulled it off in the 2001 Australian Open.
"She wasn't taking anything away from Justine," Papa Williams insisted. "Justine is a great player. Not a good player. Serena was upset she just couldn't perform like she normally can. If Serena is halfway well, nobody can beat her. She had three things hurting her like a maddog. If you understand the position, it's luck.
"She couldn't bend, couldn't push down to get any leverage," Papa Williams claimed. "[Justine] was lucky because Serena couldn't move or do this or that."

If Serena and Venus never played when Richard claims he told them not to, neither one of them would have played at all this year. Including Venus at Wimbledon.

The man revels far too much in this sort of attention.
Wasn't there a blow up a couple of years ago between the Williamses and the Hingis entourage over similar coaching allegations? I can't remember the details but it started I think when someone accused Melanie Molitor of sending hand signals in a match against Venus, she made a wrist motion or something which implied that Martina should be using more topspin on her backhand.

I call bullshit on Dick's rant this time.
I know Serena, Bell Of The Ball, may care more about how she looks on court than how she plays... but, if her hamstring bothered her at all, there would be wrapping there. Hamstring is the one injury where you'd definitely want to feel stability.
And her left thumb... she was using it fine. So, that's insignificant.
Keep it up though, Aneres.

Bjorkman is a lot better at imitating players. ] I think it's close between Bjorkman and Djokovic. In fact I would love to see an imitation contest showdown at the U.S. Open between Djokovic and Bjorkman with proceeds going to the Maria Sharapova foundation. ;D
