Ding Ding. A winner is the cat. Leena, is Mimi watching the match with you? ;D It's a shame Djokovic didn''t close out the first 2 sets against Federer when he had the chance. Once he gave Federer life in both sets it was like Federer flipped the switch and blew by Djokovic.

Why am I watching this.
At least Nole didn't really choke that time... although, he could have at least read that Roger was going down the T every freaking time at the end of the set.

Mirka looks nice.
Nole is beloved! As he should be.
A pity that it didn't go beyond 3 sets, but Djokovic will learn from this. Just over a year ago he was the guy saying he'd be right up there with Nadal and Federer ... I don't imagine there are too many people that are still giggling over that one.

Federer needs to pass Sampras's record before I cheer anyone else on wholeheartedly. And I love Nole. I'm with you there. Mixed feelings for me today. Lost opportunities to win the first set for Djokovic. When will someone other than Nadal on clay buck up against the great Federer in a grand slam final and win the first set making Federer doubt himself and struggle more than usual? AO 2006 final, Marcos "flash in the pan" Baghdatis. And we all know how that ended. Frustrating that Nole couldn't take at least a set. He's a much better player than Baghdatis. I really, really hope all that choking won't cause any permanent damage.

According to knowledgeable Serbian tennis fans she's a FAT COW and Federer is a LOSER for sticking with her while Our Nole is banging Sharapova!!!!!!!! The actual tennis match they played doesn't matter. Portuguese commentators when, with Fed seemingly about to break Nole in the third, Mirka stared at her watch: "She's already thinking at what time she's going to have dinner." If it is true that Nole is banging Sharapova, one of my correspondents is so going to off himself.

Just over a year ago he was the guy saying he'd be right up there with Nadal and Federer ... I don't imagine there are too many people that are still giggling over that one. Djokovic isn't quite there yet. But he's getting closer. Unfortunately Djokovic's clutch serving the first 2 sets against Federer was about as good as his guest star in his box Maria Sharapova's clutch serving has been this year. This was another dissapointing U.S. Open. And Super Saturday has become alot less than super. By the way congratulations to Roger Federer on winning his fourth straight U.S. Open a mere 2 months after he won his fifth straight Wimbledon. His accomplishments are incredible!

It wasn't a disappointing US Open for me, cat. For Justine to come through that bizarrely tough half of the draw, beating Serena and Venus each in straight sets, then taking her 2nd US Open title, was thrilling and satisfying. I missed every late night match, due to going to bed at bedtime , so I didn't even see Federer till the semis. But that was enough to see that he's still well above the rest of the field. But there were plenty of entertaining matches featuring other players along the way. I'm sorry it was disappointing for you, but I wonder what your expectations are? If you're disappointed in the whole US Open just because Maria didn't repeat, then I think maybe you should find some back-up faves to support. Shall I suggest a few possibilities? ;D

The women's side couldn't have went much better.
Men's was kinda boring... mostly paper, and few good matches. But, I won't complain. Still better than last year and the Agassi fellatio fest.

I really don't know why so many people obsess over her weight. Plumpness really suits Mirka. If I'd watched the final I'd be more disappointed, because I like Nole better, but not being able to see a single shot meant that my wholly rational Fed support could win through. Nole can wait for a Slam which is televised in the UK to win his first. For a mythical tournament, this USO was pretty damn good.

It's too bad the US Open gets no respect in the UK. Sadly, they don't care about tennis, period, except for two weeks a year. I was over there once several years ago during the French Open, and to look at the newspapers, you'd think it was Sopot or Bali going on, not a Slam that's a heartbeat away from London -- you had to look hard to find any news about it at all. And the only (non-cable) televised matches before the final weekend were on the middle weekend.
