This is cute! In case you were wondering why Rogi's Dad was not there to see his son win Wimby... Tuesday, 8 July, 2003, 09:26 GMT 10:26 UK Federer dad's get-out claws If only Ginger was here too Roger Federer's father has revealed he was not at Wimbledon to see his son's first Grand Slam triumph - because he had to feed the cat. Robert Federer remained at the family home in Switzerland with Roger's pet moggie, Ginger, although he did manage to catch the action on TV. "I had to feed the cat at home," sales manager Robert insisted. "We had a few friends around and watched the match on television." "Obviously I am very proud - although we are not a tennis family, we never told him to play. He just grew into it," Robert told The Sun. 'Not a tennis family' would appear to be understating it a bit. After all, what could possibly be more important than tending to the cat? A few questions inevitably arise from this bizarre situation. Do they not have pet-sitters in Switzerland? What would have happened if Ginger had demanded his Whiskas on match point? In this the lamest excuse in the history of lame excuses? And if Roger finds himself in the last two at SW19 this time next year, will the old man manage to drag himself over - or will he be washing his hair/cleaning the car/watching the decorating dry.... source news.bbc.co.uk

That cat is a beauty, no wonder Federer Sr. prefer to stay home with her ;D ;D
Sampras parents never watch him play until his historical moment in Wimbleton 2000. May be when Roger breaks Sampras record in Wimbleton, Robert will be there?

Hope he did... it's been nonstop media circus for ROGI... Yeah, Rogi's Mom Lynette was there but I wish they showed her during the match or after... Rogi was so choked up w tears he forgot to thank everyone... I wish that Sue B w not do her thing... I'd much prefer to let the players just say their own speech... she puts words into players' mouths esp the finalist and it's so hard on them... I remember Rafter...

Artikel vom 8. Three years ago Roger conquered the heart of the 3 year older Mirka. Since then the Thurgauerin is the women at the side of our Wimbledon Champion. Loyality stands at first place for the sports dreampair "We went through so many things together. To put that in question just for one night or one good looking guy - I would never do this." insists Mirca who can't play tennis at the moment due to a foot injury. "I'm so proud of my Rogi" (We are too ) says Mirka. For a marriage "we don't have time at the moment" couse also Mirka is very busy at the moment. In September she launches the parfum line of her "Rogi". A powerwomen at the side of a champion.

Having a cow Federer fussing over new farm friend Posted: Wednesday July 09, 2003 9:50 AM GSTAAD, Switzerland (AP) -- After his Wimbledon triumph and a laborious opening round victory at the Swiss Open, Roger Federer on Wednesday turned his attention to more pressing matters: where to settle his new cow Juliette. Federer found himself in a quandary after Swiss Open tournament organizers honored him with the tan and white Bernese Oberlander during a ceremony Tuesday afternoon to celebrate his Wimbledon title. "It was a nice surprise, but now I don't know where I'm going to keep her," Federer said of his new 800 kilogram (1,760-pound) friend. "Maybe it would be better to leave her in the mountains. She'll be happier there than in the streets of Basel," he said, referring to his hometown in northern Switzerland. The 21-year-old Federer was also considering changing her name. During the ceremony, spectators were stamping their feet and chanting "Wimbledon" as a new name for the bewildered cow, grandly outfitted in a large bell and a bright garland of flowers. "In fact Juliette was the name written on the paper but maybe I will choose another. I have to speak to her in private first," he joked. how cute ;D. Organizers went all-out in the welcome of their new hero, the first Swiss man to win a Grand Slam, flying Federer in from London on a private jet. During the welcome ceremony on center court, they played Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" as Federer stepped onto the court to a standing ovation. Australian former tennis champion Roy Emerson, a 12-time Grand Slam winner after whom the court in Gstaad is named, was also present to congratulate Federer. "With his talent, I don't see why he couldn't win at Wimbledon again," said the 66-year-old Aussie, a five-time champion in Gstaad. In his first match Tuesday afternoon, a tired Federer overcame fatigue, high altitude and a change of surface to overcome Spanish qualifier Marc Lopez 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3. Source: CNNSI

Hi, Vera! When they asked him what name he'd give the cow, i screamed to the top of my lungs, "Philippousis!!!", to the laughter of those close to our seats. I was also clapping and singing along to Simply the Best (the Swiss always plays this whenever they honor a champ), just being absorbed by all the euphoria. But on the drive there, i listened to Shawn Colvin's version of "Every Little Thing" by the Police and i thought, that could also be appropiate for Roger. I'm looking forward to going back tomorrow! As for the cow, he should bring it to Wimbledon, i think there's enough grass left there from the tournament! lol

Good stuff on this site of Mrs. B. Too bad it's in Schweizer Deutsch! www.espace.ch/sport/artikel/22473/artikel.htmlSo did Rogi really dance w Serena? Am Abend das «Champions Dinner». Dort tafelte er in ausgeliehenem Smoking am selben Tisch wie die Frauensiegerin Serena Williams. «Zum Tanz mit Serena wurde ich allerdings nicht gebeten», sagte Federer.

So did Rogi really dance w Serena? I think it's tradition that the men's champ dance with women's champ. *Trying to imagine Sampras dancing with Davenport in 1999* Well, Venus never had the chance in 2000 and 2001 thanks to all the rain.
