Well today's final made things a little more interesting me thinks.
I'll go first and predict Fed is gonna lose for the first time since 02 this year, to either Nole or Rafa.
Murray will do well and make the quarters/semis.
Roddick does well also: possibly a semi with a good draw.
Penis Williams wins the title, coming back from 0-5 down in the third against Brenda Schultz-Mccarthy, on C1, in R2. After that, she wins every match on CC 6-0 6-0 up until the final, where she murders *~Baby Anci Gurl~* 6-2 6-1.
S. Williams sucks all tournament, but somehow manages to make the semis.
Marion Bartoli (CAK), crashes out before the 3R, withdraws from all future tournaments, overeats and dies from lard poisoning a week later.

I predict that Venus Williams is not going to win the title. I'm probably going to regret this.

When a guy has won Wimbledon five times in a row, it's hard to pick against him ... I say he pulls out another. It will be interesting to see whether the draw lines up Djokovic and Nadal in his path, though. For the women, it is anybody's tournament. The whole top twenty could probably do it. I guess Venus, Serena, and Maria must like their chances. Can Safina keep playing well? Might Ana win two straight? Can Jelena finally do it? Will it all go to Vaidisova!@!@!

I am officially going on record and saying that neither the Williams Sisters nor Maria Sharapova will win the title. Safina won't make a huge impact - she'll need to adjust to a shorter backswing, methinks.
I'd be interested to see which one of the top players Lindsay draws.
Mostly Jelena is overlooked, but I don't think she's that terrible on grass (especially the slowed down version these days). She is the last player to beat Venus on the surface and did beat Maria to win Birmingham last year. Maybe with the spotlight off her, she could do well. No. She'll probably be injured and collapse 32-30 in the third against Ivanovic or lost 6-2, 6-2 to Maria/Ree/Pee.
The men's is more straightforward. I don't see Djokovic in the final - another SF for him. Federer tops Nadal once more in a tight final. Yawn.

I see many pundits are predicting Roj will not win Wimbledon. I am afraid they might correct -- not so much because of Nadal but because he's vulnerable to an upset earlier on. We'll see how his draw shapes up.

She is the last player to beat Venus on the surface and did beat Maria to win Birmingham last year. Maybe with the spotlight off her, she could do well. With the exception of Venus, Jankovic is by far the best grasscourt mover left in the women's game. And grass makes her pitty-pat serve somewhat less vulnerable. Ivanovic moves very poorly on grass, can't deal with low balls, and her BH is completely useless there. Plus she was serving much better a year ago. Not a favourite unless the draw opens up for her yet again. Which is of course what will happen. The sisters are probably the favourites though. Sharapova isn't, even if her serve doesn't deteriorate any further. Kuznetsova will again make QF or even SF without even trying. Darkhorses I don't see; the Euro youngsters suck on grass, and the surprises are likely to come from the last hurrahs of sucky veterans or from otherwise sucky Anglos. It isn't called "the English Open" for nothing. As for the men, I don't think Nadal has that much of a shot. Last year Nole effortlessly won the 1st set of their SF before running out of gas, and in the final Nadal played near perfect - and still lost. Federer probably isn't as vulnerable to an upset as he looks. The slowing down of the surface and best of five diminish the chances of the big serving freaks doing that much damage. That being said, this can also end up being totally random. Or end up being won by Roddick.

Or end up being won by Roddick. I just remember how heavily the odds were stacked against Nadal last year, especially re: scheduling, and how close he still came. Imagine if he'd had just that tiny bit more energy, and hadn't faded right at the end. If they play again, it might be the first instalment of The Rivalry for years which is actually somewhat tough to predict. Agree that Jankovic is a lot better on grass than she's generally given credit for. She was undone last year by her insane schedule, mostly; plus, Cake was on fire.

Plus, you have to wonder how being the only one of the Big Three Serbs yet to win a Slam will affect JJ. If it spurs her on to really work on her game, and to be more professional about her schedule and general approach to matches...that will be a superb thing to see.

Yes, plus that insane match against Safarova took out whatever energy was left in her. Really, having to play two of the most on fire players in a row was a horrible draw, although it didn't look that way in the beginning. I think Jelena will go further than Ivanovic at Wimbledon. I don't think she can beat both sistahs and/or Sharapova, so if she's going to go beyond the semis some luck and opening of the draw will be needed. That said, I don't think Vee or Rena will win the title, but I'm not so confident in Maria either. Basically, I have no idea who wins. I believe Mauresmo may have a mini-resurgence here, like reaching the QF or something.

I think there's some credence to the ROJ IS FINISHED stuff, but for the wrong reasons.
The RG scoreline means nothing.
If you're a masochist that's watched most of their "rivalry" like me, it was the same as always.
Except that Roger dumped his gameplan early on (hit angles and move Rafa so he doesn't topspin to your BH all day) because he was hitting tons of errors. Thus, went to his Plan B, play stupidly aggressive and go to net often, which usually leads to about a set of JesusFed, but it only lasted a few games this time, until he blew that easy ball for 4-3 in the 2nd.
Then, Plan C, rally and die.
But, anyway, Roger has had problems with flat hitters who take his time away, especially on the BH. Given the right matchup early on, I could see some trouble.
My pick now would be Djokovic to win, though.

Novak would definitely be my favourite if they were to meet in the semis again this time. I REALLY can't see Roger losing before the SF though... hmm it's tough. Perhaps the pressure has eased slightly now after the FO final thrashing (and with people like Borg picking Rafa for the win) and he'll steamroller everyone? I can't wait!

I don't think the final will feature The Rivalry, and I pray that it doesn't. Sick to the stomach of it. My pick now would be Djokovic to win, though. The weirdness of the new English Open grass (ball no longer skids, but the low bounce remains and still makes it tricky and risky to go for big hardcourt-style groundstroke drives, unless you have Nadal's footwork) has favoured Djokovic. If the English Open still played like it did in the late 1990s, Nole would probably struggle to go beyond the QF, or even the 4R. His serve isn't suited to grass, but his ground game has just the right mix of consistency and aggressiveness to succeed on any surface. Still, I think Federer, and not Nole, is the frontrunner. BTW if the English Open grass was still as fast as it once was, Roddick would be the favourite to win. Queen's is still old skool grass, and nobody can return his serve there.

Agreed. The English Open grass is basically a hardcourt now speed and bounce wise. The difference is still footwork.

So Baby Anci Gurl got her reception in Belgrade yesterday. It was a bit bittersweet, to be honest. Sure it's nice to be greeted by several thousand fans, but you just know that had this happened two years ago the whole city would be up in flames and she'd be beatified instantly. And now, all hype aside, it's normal and expected that our tennis players do well. Everybody's thrilled that she won RG but... it's not really that HUGE anymore. Especially now that Serbs know what it's like after Novak's title in Australia.
Still, if she fails to reach the expectations at Wimby, she'll quickly face the wrath of the fickle Serbian public. And for that reason I really wish her to have a good tournament here.

I'll be shocked if Mauresmo has a resurgence at Wimbledon.
We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Williams sisters. Venus played one of her worst match against Sesil at Roland Garros, to end up winning Wimbledon right after.
I don't have anything against CAKE, but I can't wait to see her back where she belongs. (Ie, not in the top 10).

The trend also dictates that Penis has to be nearing the "Is she finished?" comments from the common public and not just us haters knowledgeable folks.
She isn't there yet. She's still a single-digit seed. And if she loses say 4R/QF here, she's still in or close to the top 10 until USO.
Do not fret, Pee will win in '09 as the 32nd seed.

So Bartoli may be out after disclosing she is suffering from tendinitis.
Seems the board agrees that this is wide-open on the women's side, and there's an opening for a couple guys on the men's. This will be the most open Wimbledon in years for both genders, no doubt.
