I just got some news that Roger will be playing in the doubles at the Australian Open? Roger will be teamed up with childhood friend and winner of the Vienna doubles Yves Allegro.
I was just reading the Vienna results they managed to beat Damm/Suk 7-5, 6-3 and Bhupathi/Max Mirnyi 7-6, 7-5 and they were seeded #3 and # 2 respectively in the tournament.
Hopefully they will continue to have good results and playing doubles can be very beneficial for Roger's singles game.

They played doubs together last year, too. It's most likely Davis Cup practice, probably to see how well these two play together and see if it could be a possible team. That was the thinking last year, at least.

They have played together many times, and they have known each other since their teenage years.
Maybe the big man Rosset has finally had enough and is willing to risk Allegro for the Davis Cup. Yves Allegro isn't that bad a doubles player, it depends on whether he feels like playing or not. Playing with Roger it should hopefully lift his game.
I'll see them for myself very soon at the AO.

Well this discusion has been made long time ago - and it's been clear at the end of last year that Rosset is no longer going to play doubles with Roger in DC. So Allegro was the first pick from then on and as they'll play Romania right after AO it's a good choise to get some practice at AO.

Now is the time to get in some dbles practice for DC -- that's why Nadal/Robredo are playing and Lopez/Mirnyi -- both SUI and ESP need a solid dbles team, so the more practice the better. Altho I do think Rogi s still and always concentrate on his singles, of course! Rogi was training in Biel w Yves et al. [also Max].

Thanks for the news, Doris. I think it's better for Federer to pair up with Allegro than with Bastl. If I recall correctly, Federer/Allegro did pretty well at the Australian Open last year, and in Doha, too. George, do keep us up-to-date on the Aussie Open Any sorts of reports you could give us would be fabulous, on any of the players. Most of us don't go to MTF very often, so even if you just had to c/p . . .

No problems Hack, I was actually going to write some reports for this site anyway.
So you want something about the players at the AO and anything else that you would like me to write about? Apat from the tennis anything else that you would like to know.
Don't worry I wouldn't bother about posting a report on MTF. I just use them for purely entertainment purposes.

Thanks I don't post at MTF on principle -- basically, that their management team sucks. Doesn't help that the place is overrun with idiot posters anyway. Anything you see is great. You've probably read my reports from Cincy, or the other posters' reports about the events they went to. Stuff like that is good, or whatever you want to write about. How long will you be there?

I enjoy myself way too much at other peoples expense... I admit it. I'm a prick Anyways... I really ought to try to keep my serious comments to this board where all the posters can actually understand them

Fair enough about not posting on principle, then again if it wasn't for MTF, I wouldn' t have found this place. So there are good things from there, yes there are many moronic imbeciles, but that is the internet and life in general.
Thanks for the clarification about what you would like from my AO report, there might be a few strange entry days, but that will make it fun to read hopefully.
There are people that I like winding up so much, it's a good outlet for that. I understand the serious comment thing for sure, and when I have any news or something worth sharing I will contribute to it for sure.

Yes, Allegro would be a better partner with Roger than Bastl. Unfortunately for Bastl, him and 5 set victories aren't exactly the best of friends. Plus they have had success and know each other very well, which in theory should help them to get some good results.
Yves, is in Auckland at the moment trying to get into the doubles tournament there.

So there are good things from there, yes there are many moronic imbeciles, but that is the internet and life in general. Well, I used to post there, when it was ATPWorld. We all did, in fact. Then they shut the board down without notice a few times and blamed it on the ATP (it's a long and weird story). Then they brought it back to life suddenly when they decided to cut the ATP forum off the bottom of WTAWorld. Most of the people that were there when I posted there are gone, and it isn't half the board it used to be. Besides, I got to WTAWorld -- that's enough idiots for me If you've read the tournament forum here, that's the best way to get an idea of what we like. Basically, anything especially about any of our favorite players (which span more or less the whole draw). We'll take whatever we can get, and it's always fun to hear about someone's experience on the grounds and compare it to the TV coverage or whatever.

Thanks for that Hack, I have it all clear now what sort of tournament tales, the board is going to get. The early stuff will be qualifying or maybe going to Kooyong one day.
