Oh, like that overrule, where Dechy was standing right next to the ball, but the umpire gave the point to Ivanovic.
Okay.

Lolz. I'm amazed that Nat hasn't folded. Good on her! Also, I loved that point at 8-8 40-0 where the ball was behind Nat, she hits the ball and somehow Ana directs the ball wide. The grin on Dechy's face was hilarious.

I guess luck does play a factor in the Slams. Very disappointing for Nathalie. I don't see what more she could have done. Ana showed real grit out there. This match was great for women's tennis, if the standing ovation and the resounding applause are anything to go by.

I was very impressed with Nath. She could very well have won this match 7-6, 6-4. Ana came up with some clutch shots and they kept pushing each other, it seemed. It won't be remembered as an all-time classic, but having just watched it on tv, it was beyond entertaining.
And it's nearly 10 pm and I'm still at work. Thankfully, we have a television set in my department. Also, no one else is here so I can watch my tennis and keep working too! Yay.

Dechy was good. She took it to Ana, served well, tried to move her out of position and come to the net to finish off points. She gave it all she had, I don't feel like she choked at any point. Ivanovic blew hot and cold the entire match. Amazing winners followed by gross errors, pretty much the story of her career. She struggled with her serve in the first set, shot selection was extremely dumb at times and footwork was generally poor. But she kept cool when it mattered and won the decisive points. That's what counts I guess. And of course, the luck. The second MP for Dechy will go down in history as one of the luckiest shots ever. Or Dechy's hat falling off just as she's about to put the ball away at the net as Ivanovic is wrong-footed and helpless, thus the point being replayed, at 15-30 on Ivanovic's serve late into the 3rd set. Or Ivanovic challenging and being proven right by 0.00002 mm. Dechy doing the same and being wrong by the same margin. Ridiculous.

I guess it's hard to get up for Tier IVA early rounds against scrubs when you've been Top 20 for a long time, whereas she'll fight against the best because it's where she thinks she belongs (see: Safin).

Chris Fowler is the worst tennis announcer ever. In the last 3 games, he's made at least 10 "jokes" on how slow Soderling is.
Why does he have such joy demeaning the lesser player always? Why does he announce tennis matches when he knows absolutely nothing about the sport?
I should go back to watching online and announcing to myself in my head.

Can BarbOra really blow a 5-0 first set lead? We shall see...
