Walrus breaks and serving for it at 7-6. Looks like Bellucci goes for his shots, based on the stats (i.e., he's made a ton of errors and double faults) /me is trying to be charitable

I thought there would be 6 matches held over, but 5 of them finished within the last ten minutes, and Gicquel is a game away from keeping the tournament on time, Ivanovic's efforts be damned!

Obviously I didn't see a point. Did they both play well, or did they both play poorly? Par for the course for Ivanovic matches, i.e. horror show. Dechy did have the appropriate game plan for once, i.e. be aggressive, hit flat and take time away from Ivanovic. Most other scrubs just keep hitting into Ivanovic's BH side and wait for the best. That might have worked in say late 2005, but now it just won't do. Yesterday I was claiming the local station always sticks to CC, yet today they showed all of this while Nole was sinking against Safin.

I actually find Global Girl to be much more tolerable than Ivanovic. Yeah, she's a brat. But I find her game to be way less ugly.

What a clutch win for Ivanovic over Dechy in a thrilling 3 set affair. But Ana looks like she likes #1 as much as Sharapova does. And Safin's win over Djokovic was a shocker and nice to see. It seemed like Novak was nervous playing against Marat. P.S. - Adje!

lol. Ana and Nathalie both believed Divine Intervention was the cause of The Matchpoint:
Q. When you were at match point and you saw her hit her forehand, what did you think was going to happen?
NATHALIE DECHY: Well, during one second I thought I won because the ball stayed on the net for just a tiny bit. Then I didn't see clearly if it was going on my side or on her side.
Then I saw. I was like, Gee, there's maybe somebody in the sky who help her on that one. But it's part of that sport, and it's why this sport is so difficult but so beautiful at the same time.
Q. How do you think you'll look back on this match in the weeks, months, years to come?
ANA IVANOVIC: Just someone from upstairs made the ball roll over.

AMG in the third round is appalling. Ana better watch out for Zheng. She doesn't like taking on flat hitters! Vaidisova and Chak both look very vulnerable. Chances for Dellacqua and Rodina. My Bonds! They failed me! Na Li lost so routinely. I'll say it again: Bethanie Mattek is winning WAY too many matches lately. I'm somewhat impressed that Bartoli and Mauresmo are both in the third round. I thought the odds were good that they both fail earlier than that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looks like another Federer-Hewitt match ... Good for Ancic! He has a shot against the Grass-Loving Spaniard. Djokovic losing is the shock of the year. My exact words to a friend of mine yesterday were, "Marat has no chance in hell." I don't imagine many others thought differently. I guess you never know with Safin. He might go right out to Seppi in the next round. Soooo sad about Dancevic's loss today. Sounds like the tought second set decided that one. A lot of guys have a semifinal shot down there: Baghdatis could do it again, Safin maybe, Wawrinka, the hottie F-Lopez ...

I actually find Global Girl to be much more tolerable than Ivanovic. Yeah, she's a brat. But I find her game to be way less ugly. In aesthetical terms, Maria's FH ruins everything. But the point that I've tried to make countless times before is that Ivanovic's game is crass and brainless even when compared to the other ball bashers. Against scrubs, far too often it consists of hitting as hard as possible to wherever she happens to be facing.

Nikki V. doesn't have a pretty game. Movement is too awkward and clumsy, BH is one of the ugliest I have ever seen, and her FH is an acquired taste that everyone except myself has failed to acquire.
