Zheng, yeah. But, Alla did absolutely nothing since the close loss to Penis.

I'd love to create a blog that simply mocks all tennis media, but I'm lazy and nobody would read it. Also, not enough hours in the day to cover every instance of tennis media stupidity. Hi Janie!

Why are the 15 posters here not holding a monopoly of the tennis press? Because REALLY? We're far too witty and perspicacious to be appreciated by the masses!

So...she needs to cast her mind back to Justine Henin's retirement press conference, then. Take this gem, for example. ;D

all willies final? Probably. The best-case scenario is JJ winning eight games or so in the final against Serena. Of course that also means SLAMLESS NUMBER ONE

Yes the WS will probably bs their way to the final, but I feel they're both vulnerable, so there's still hope.
Henin. She retired right before 2 Slams. If she cared about adding more Slam trophees to her collection, she would have retired after Wimbledon. Or the US Open.

Happy for and not surprised at all about Beth. She played some inspired tennis in the first two rounds. Actually she's my only "discovery" left in the draw so please win some more. I would love for Aga to do something big here. The chance is there. Both Chak and Nici shouldn't be there. Disappointing for women's tennis. Zheng, best WC choice ever? Stadler

No surprise whatsoever about Zheng. Chalk that one up in my column.
Marion losing before the fourth round? Also not astonishing. Mattek winning three matches here? Very, very weird.
Not sure how Chak and Vaid both survived to the fourth round, but at least one of them has to lose now!
The top half is wide open for Serena. I guess we see if Kuznetsova can be the spanner in the works.
Somehow, I don't think the champ will be Serena ... it's been five years since she won it. Hopefully Svetlana does the job.

For anyone who has watched Mattek lately.
How is she winning tennis matches. Seriously, I've seen her many times and she is bad.

Maybe, but I don't really see Sveta getting past Aga right now, so putting all your hope on Sveta at this point seems a bit weird.

No, Kuznetsova played very poorly against Babs. Re: Babs' outburst, saw in on teevee and you really must hear it said in Babs' accent. Re: Mauresmo, she played pressure-free tennis for a while. Seemed more intent into making Serena look like a clumsy idiot than in winning the match, and that was the main reason she made it tight for a while - Schnyder did the same in Rome last year, but won in the end. Re: Nikki V., Dellacqua played stupid. Tried to blast away every single one of Nikki's 2nd serves and missed 9 out of 10 (Nikki isn't taking as many risks with her 2nd serve as she once did to avoid DFs, but it's still decent), and also tried finishing every single point with a single shot. Nikki V. had far less UEs than Dellacqua IIRC and that says everything. Other than that, same old shit from Nikki. ROS embarrassing, horribly mistimed BHs (one of them flew into the adjacent court and landed right at Eduardo Schwank's feet), pinned to the baseline throughout. Some signs here and there of what Felgate may be trying to do, but I won't bore you with that. Local channel did a lot of court hopping yesterday, so I got to watch a lot of stuff. Switched to Ivanovic's match about halfway through the 2nd set, but I couldn't enjoy BAG the Undisputed GOAT going down because I misread the scoreboard and thought BAG had won the 1st set. So when the players handshaked at the net I was "Huh? What?". BAG was hitting the bejesus out of the ball in those points I saw; people who still doubt she has the biggest ground game in the Tour by far would do well to watch that. English Open site sez BAG used "pressure" as an excuse? Bolelli: is he the closest thing Italy has to a power player, or did he just seem that way because he was playing against a pusher? For some reason I got Bolelli mixed up with that puffballer Fognini. Some of the shots Ancic came up with against Pics were to die for. Too bad his ROS is Nikkieske.
