Well the big news is of course that Federer isn't going to play the first round, at home vs the Netherlands, because of the move on the calendar. So of course that leaves the delicious question of who will be chosen for the team.

=================================================================== On Rebound Ace against Holland TENNIS - THis will deliver Swiss Davis Cup team the home play of the World Group against Holland (4 until 6 March in Freiburg) on Rebound Ace. How quickly the surface will be, meanwhile, remains open. "It is the advantage of Rebound Ace that one can train first on it and still then change the conditions," says the new Davis Cup Coach Ivo Werner, who nevertheless see through that "we do not want to select necessarily a fast surface. It is good for us, if the balls jump off highly. Sjeng Schalken and Raemon Sluiter do not like that necessarily." The capacity in the forum of Freiburg is flexible, for the moment plans one for approximately 4000 to 4500 spectators. In the team meeting in Biel on Tuesday all members of the cadre participated with exception of Roger Federer (forfait for this round) and Marco Chiudinelli (training in Germany) . The candidate circle consists of six players: Yves Allegro, George Bastl, Chiudinelli, Ivo Heuberger, Michel Kratochvil and Stanislas Wawrinka. Werner, who will accompany his players to the qualification for the Australian Open, and Captain Marc Rosset will then nominate a Fuenfer team and will last reduce to the demanded four players. "We made the decision together, but Marc has the last word," says Werner, who assumes Rosset appears definitely a "Nonplaying Captain".

Deshalb glaubt Swiss Tennis an ihn. =================================================================== On Rebound Ace against Holland east. At the seat of Swiss tennis in Biel was informed not only over "kidstennis". Ivo Werner, which communicated Davis Cup cup-Coach, also pieces of news to the meeting against Holland in Freiburg (4.-6 March). At the team meeting of Tuesday (without Federer, who is missing against Holland, and Marco Chiudinelli, who trains in Germany) George Bastl, Ivo Heuberger, Michel Kratochvil as well as Stanislas Wawrinka agreed with Werner, Captain Rosset and the cadre player Yves Allegro, on Rebound Ace as the surface. The advantage of the lining laid on wood consists of the fact that its characteristics can be still changed if necessary after unsatisfactory first trainings. At present on the fact it is tended that no all too fast soil is selected, because highly jumping off balls the play of the Dutchmen (Schalken, Sluiter) not to come to meet. From the mentioned six players Werner and Rosset, who can pass his Davis Cup experience on substantially better as Non playing Captain, will select in the long run the four athletes, who are in Freiburg thereby. They would meet together, said the decision Werner. But Rosset has the final say in the case of doubt. The coach counts on the fact that his players, who worked owing to the visual instruction by Federer with positive result on their self-assurance (also in stress situations), are capable, to take the responsibility for the task against Holland by hundred percent. None is set, except Allegro, who is experienced in doubles. The youngest one, Wawrinka, is supported further financially and idealistically by the federation. Roman did not obtain this year the expected results, technical progress was nevertheless to be recognized. Therefore Swiss tennis believes in it.

A VERY interesting article about Ivo Werner's focus for the team.
- (rire) On verra.

Ivo Werner: "I never had a coach!" Ivo Werner wants to insufflate the mentalilty of conquerors to the Switzerland Davis Cup team. The new strong man of Swiss Tennis took part, yesterday in Bienne, in the presentation of the project "Kidstennis" and revealed his intentions for 2005.
Remarks collected by Tiphaine Bühler
"That made more than three years that I am in contact with Ivo Werner," smiles Christine Ungricht, president of the Federation. "To find a good coach being appropriate for everyone is not easy. We have him." Mrs Swiss Tennis does not dry up praises on the man has carried for one month the double cap of head coach of Swiss Tennis and mentor of the Davis Cup team. He could also take again the head of the female national team; a decision which will fall these next weeks. "In 2003, a working group, followed by Werner, had been formed between Ivo Heuberger, Michael Lammer and Yves Allegro. That occurred well and they emitted the wish to continue together."
The Frenchman George Deniau isolated of the head of the Swiss formation, and with Roger Federer announcing his absence of the first round of the Davis CutCup versus the Netherlands, from the 4 to March 6 in Freiburg, Ivo Werner sees his task redoubling importance. A challenge that is delighted to the Czech-raised German. At 44 years, this father of three children was established in the area Biennoise, but guard his fasteners in Germany, in Ettlingen.
-Ivo Werner, you had a name by involving Jakob Hlasek, Petr Korda and Michel Kratochvil. Which memories do you keep?
-I learned enormously with their contact. I brought Korda to the Top 10 in particular and maked Hlasek pass from the 60s to the 40s. Micha left the 300s players to reach the 60s in the ATP. While the classification is essential, they progressed. But work it is them, and them only, which cut down it. Their tennis is extremely complete, my role was only mental and technical. Because even the players of the Top 10 have technical deficiencies. Sometimes, they "lose" their flight or the cross reverse and it is up to me to help them find it.
-You never remained more than two and half years with these "champions". Why that didn't it last longer?
-None was a new player. They needed me for precise tasks. When my mission was concluded, it was normal for me to withdraw.
-Will your stay with Swiss Tennis also be short?
-(laughs) We will see. The situation is different. I will not follow only one player, but a team. I will not spend all my time with them wither. They need to learn how to be together, without Roger Federer. It is one thing of saying that one is able to beat an adversary, but it is another to really believe and for everyone to implement to win the match. They must learn how to be their own guides. I will be able to thus deal also with the changing of Swiss Tennis with my colleagues of the various departments.
-Roger Federer moves without coach for more than one year, what do you think of this situation?
-Roger thinks and sees tennis like anybody. He is his clean coach and a model for the majority of the trainers. He views his matches, his play and knows what he must do. With ease in his body and with his racket, he can remain in form and anticipate the serious wounds. He is however not alone all year. Roger constituted a circle and takes the council of trainers sporadically.
-What of your character is a born leader?
-I am somebody fundamentally honest and direct. When something does not go I put all on the table. If not, I can be very hard as well as flexible, when it is necessary.
-How your passion for tennis did begin?
-My father practised table tennis. At the time of a tournament, he gained a tennis racquet. He started to play and I followed him. Into singles, I moved among the World 100ss and in doubles around the 70s. On the other hand, I never had a coach, but I never gave up. Thus my force developed. I know what tennis brought to me and I am not ready to drop this sport.
