Brinyi's not here, so someone's got to do it for him. More than 2-1/2 hours into an unexpectedly trying afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Jelena Jankovic sprawled face down on the blue court.
Five seconds passed. Then 10, and 20, and 30. Still, she did not move.
"I was so exhausted at that moment," Jankovic said. "I didn't have the energy to get up. That's the reason I was just lying there without moving. I would've loved to have taken a nap on the court, because I was really exhausted."

The bout of stamina-sapping mononucleosis that hit Federer at the start of the year may still be affecting him, USA network announcer Jim Courier said.
``This is a wounded man physically,'' Courier said. ``The mono is still hurting him, his feet are a little off. That match will take something out of him.''
Federer, whose next opponent is qualifier Gilles Muller, didn't agree.
``I'm over it,'' he said. ``I don't feel like I'm extra tired, I'm not scared of being super-tired tomorrow.''

Fed's mono will be hurting him for the rest of his life, whenever he's not 100%. It's tragic.

So next time I suck at something, I can totally blame it on shingles, right? Excellent news. "Sorry I didn't come to work last week, boss. The shingles were acting up again! They insisted that I travel to France for the weekend"

Mono is with you FOREVER, like herpes or Larry King. -- Y.Brin "The season is long and I'm a little tired but I'm still doing pretty well." -- R.Nadal "Most of the time the mind controls, but sometimes even the mind gets very tired of pushing every time yourself. So then this comes the moments that you really, like you say you don't care anymore. But now I feel ‑‑ I'm feeling better." -- D.Safina "I'm feeling tired, but, I mean, it's being in last 16 really helps. I mean, you just stop thinking about it." -- Evil G.Muller "I don't feel I'm extra tired. I'm not scared to be super tired tomorrow." -- R.Federer

Coach: Rafael Nadal is exhausted at U.S. Open Sunday, September 07, 2008 BY DAVID WALDSTEIN Star-Ledger Staff NEW YORK -- When he said it, it seemed like a joke. But in light of his nephew's struggles yesterday, perhaps Toni Nadal was expressing real concern. Before Rafael Nadal's match with Andy Murray, which was suspended by rain with Murray leading 6-2, 7-6 (5), 2-3 and Nadal up a break, the coach and uncle was asked about Nadal finally being physically fit at the U.S. Open. But Uncle Toni wasn't buying it. He said his nephew is exhausted from playing too many matches this summer. "No, right now he's not too good," the coach said. "He's played too many matches. He's tired." Part of his fatigue could be the result of his extraordinarily late match against Mardy Fish in the quarterfinals, a match that didn't end until 2:11 a.m. Thursday. Uncle Toni did say, however, that his nephew is not suffering from the knee and ankle problems that slowed him in previous years here.

Glad that his knee and stuff isn't bugging him. He probably would have lost to Murray, FATIGUE or not. So, all is well. I believe he's taking a month off now.
