Day 15.

Post by sasha on Sept 7, 2008 17:59:42 GMT -5
5pm EST.
Roger FEDERER (SUI) vs. Andrew MURRAY (SCO).
The last Monday finish was in 1987, when universally hated except by Leelee tennis god Ivan LENDL (CZE) cheated by opening the skies on Sunday when he has a terrible cold, to defeat Mats WILANDER (SWE) who only pushes the ball and would lose 0-6 0-6 0-6 to Serena WILLIAMS (USA).

I live about 15 minutes from Ivan Lendl in Florida. If I see him I'll say hi to him for you. I'll take Federer over Murray in the final in 4 sets 6-3 3-6 7-6(4) 6-4.

But the MURRAY SLAM is now.

Okay, I'll do it for you.
CHLOE THINKS FEDERER WILL WIN!!1!!!!11!
And I hope he will, but I'm going to be nervous.
Oddly, though, yesterday I sadly realized that I don't seem to hate Murray any more. I kind of miss that enjoyable sports-hate. Come back, Hewitt!

You could hate Djokovic, instead. He has a massive chip on his shoulder, just how you like it. Yet, at the same time, he just wants everybody to wuv him! *sniff*

I only get sports-hate about Roddick and to a lesser extent Blake, at the top of the men's game now. I miss it too. It's annoying to get to the SF stage and find that you don't care who wins because you like them all. But then, I remember the Sampras years, and the Hewitt mini-era, and I am grateful for today's players!

Oh God, the Hewitt era. Weren't we all relieved when that was over? It's like... you knew it couldn't possibly last, but when in the midst of it, it felt like FOREVER. Roar. The morning that Federer woke up and went "wait a second.. why do I keep losing to this guy", was a great day in the history of mankind. Where's Janie to weigh in on this?
I, too, don't hold any particular level of loathing for Fed, Rafa, Nole, or Murray, and yes... this is sad.

I don't know if I will wake up at 6am to watch this. I probably would have if Nadal had won. And I'd like to see if Murray will be up to snuff in his first slam final, or not. I just don't know if I can do 6am. I need my cranky bitchy rest.

The morning that Federer woke up and went "wait a second.. why do I keep losing to this guy", was a great day in the history of mankind. Ha, that's exactly right. I still can't bear the idea that he won Wimbledon, but it's so long ago now. I knew my glory days of Hewitt sports-hate were waning the day I felt sorry for him running around on some US Open show court in his little blue shoes that matched his little blue outfit. But it's really over when the guy never wins anything or even gets close enough to get mad about. Even the world-class-conceited Kournikova was a lot less fun to hate when she started losing routinely in r1 or r2 of Slams. Really, I'm down to hating Kobe now. And Alexandra Stevenson can get me going whenever she still gets an interview published online. Nole just doesn't do it for me, hate-wise, and as for Wussquet, if he could ever get it together, I'd probably be rooting for him. :red:

The only player I have disdain for is Gasquet. And if he rises up the rankings, he’ll ýprobably have to stop being a giant wuss, so there’s nobody.ý
Whereas with the top women, I want them all to lose except maybe a couple Russinas. And that's only because I to have sexual relations with them.

Your PARENTS are to blame for Two and a Half Men? Ugh. Not only them, but partially, yes. My mother also INSISTS that the cast sings the theme song, even though I showed her a quote from the show's creator explaining that Charlie Sheen et al. are lip-synching work by professional studio singers. She apparently does not agree with him. Ladies and gentlemen, the woman who bore me.
