I read on MTF that Nalbandian probably won't go if he manages to qualify (which he might not, anyways, given that he's in the third with King Kolya, but whatever). That doesn't make it true, but it wouldn't make that much sense for him to go. He's won it before and DC is his priority. So let's pretend he doesn't count here. JWT FTW!

Either way, the winner of JWT/Fat D will be #7, and Pony will be #8. Another reason I want JWT to make it is because then there will be 8 guys from 8 different countries! That's how it would have been had it been Simon 8th, so why not replace him with another Frenchie?! A marked difference from the WTA, who have 8 girls from 3 countries. If Fat D wins Paris but actually does not attend, looks like JWT would be the ALT. Sweet! Rest up, Fat D! You need it because you're fat!

IIRC Fatty's run last year qualified him to be the alternate, but he didn't bother going then either.

Uncle Toni says Nadal might not play, but Uncle Toni says Nadal might not play 96% of the matches he plays.

They really ought to not have the TMC and DC like, a week apart.

If Fat Dave skips the Masters Cup, then plays those South American exhos like he does every December, then he's silly.

They really ought to not have the TMC and DC like, a week apart. It didn't used to be. I don't know why the DC final was bumped up a week.

If Fat Dave skips the Masters Cup, then plays those South American exhos like he does every December, then he's silly. But if he skips it on account of China being awfully far from Argentina, where he needs to be the next week... well, it kind of makes sense. If he hadn't won the Master Cup before, I'd criticize him for it. But he's stated since the beginning of the year that Davis Cup was his goal. With that in mind, it'd be kind of dumb for him to bother with Shanghai...

All moot! 8 players from 8 countries!

I love this field. We even got a Frenchmen I don't hate! I hope Roger and Rafa are healthy, and the tennis is as outstanding as it should be.

Yeah, I agree. This is definitely a golden age for men's tennis. Unbelievably, I really like every player in the field, except Roddick. I fear Nole might disappoint though

I really like 5 out of 8, one I don't mind but want him to stop winning (Federer), one is boring but whatever (Davydenko), and one is my current least favorite player (Murray). Having said that...just a perfect field if everyone is playing well. Don't worry, it will all fall apart and be awful.

We all need an Andy to hate.
I don't even know who to specifically root for. Del Pony and his sexxxy arms, maybe.

Don't worry, it will all fall apart and be awful. Whatever ensues here, I am fairly confident that it will not be as awful as Doha. Because the WTA never disappoints.

Excellent field. Agreed. Happy face.
But yes, it will probably all fall apart and end up awful. I predict two retirements in the round robin and one horribly one sided semifinal.

Very disappointing...it's good to see Simon get his shot, and it can still be a great tournament, but the original line-up was pretty special.

Yes indeed. Stupid Davis Cup.
Admittedly I did care for that competition when the German team consisted of Becker and Westphal/Jelen/Steeb/Kühnen/etc. But that was a loooooong time ago. Since then, not so much.

Oh. OH. I was all set to have sympathy for Rafa and his entirely justified fatigue, but this is just bullshit to prioritise Davis Cup, isn't it. Stupid nationalistic tennis players...both YECs should have a much larger profile than they do, but it doesn't help matters when the top players make it so obvious that they couldn't care less. And the only players who do care are the ones who exhaust themselves from the indoor whoring, and end up going 0-3. Like Bepa

Hopefully that's the only withdrawal and it won't turn it out like the last time Rafa withdrew, where they had to call in Gorila for a fishing trip or soething like that.
