Looks like Kuzzy has totally collapsed after a great start.

I swear I heard him say "Illya Kuryakin". I had a big crush on him on the Man from U.N.C.L.E.! But it sounded like KuzNEETsova Now I'm more confused than ever and therefore maybe should not root for anyone from that part of the world. Except for DemENtyava. From the little Russian I've heard, it seems like every consonant+e ends up sounding like consonant+y+e. So Kuznetsova = Kuznyetsova with a long e. Zvonareva = Zvonaryeva. Dementieva = Dyemyentiyeva. Semen = Syemyen with long e's and even Egor = Ygor. The final 'a' sounds like the adding of an aspirant to the end of the word. So Dementieva = Dyemyentiyevh, Spasibo=Spasibh. This is all from hearing a few random words of Russian here and there so it may be completely wrong. I'm confused by the Serbo-Croatian last names. Is Jankovic = YANKOveech?

Looks like Kuzzy has totally collapsed after a great start. Kuzzy 0-2 H2H against A-Bond...could be in her head?

I don't think it's in her head, it's just that Sweta is a very inconsistent and error-prone player.

I'm confused by the Serbo-Croatian last names. Is Jankovic = YANKOveech? The first syllable is stressed, it should be YAHNkovich, the "ah" sound being a bit longer. You can hear it here www.youtube.com/watch?v=xozNZ3fveHE

Sweata played a couple of really good point in the end of the TB, didn't think she'd pull herself together like that.

I don't understand who are these people who commentate. No, Kuznetsova has not broken Bondarenko's serve now. I know it's 5 AM, but you're getting paid to do this job.

I've had enough women's tennis.
I don't know how Sela hits most balls cleanly with his enormous swings. And Australia also has loud, annoying Israeli fans. Same with Yugoslavians. How do those drunk hooligans afford to travel like that while I can't? Grar.

s. And Australia also has loud, annoying Israeli fans. Same with Yugoslavians. How do those drunk hooligans afford to travel like that while I can't? Grar. The Yugos didn't travel there (or at least 99% of them didn't). They were actually born and raised in Australia, in many cases they're even the third generation of immigrants. Most of them have never been in their country of origin. And yes, they clearly have issues. For some reason the Balkan diaspora in Australia tends to be extremely nationalistic.

I'm so impressed that a non-native English speaker knows the word "diaspora." I don't think I used that word correctly until...what time is it?

Seemo dispatches Baby Anci Boi easily, surprisingly. Sets up a really interesting fourth round match betweem Seemo and Mofees.

Hey! This is Seemo's first 4R in a Slam. Pretty impressive he got to #6 without one...or is it? :red:

I can't believe that just one year ago Ivanovic and Kuznetsova started battling for #1.
Women's tennis has improved, I guess.

It does help that, all of a sudden, there appears to be about 5 players that (give or take the odd tournament) are consistently going deep. That does help the cause. I think.

Yeah. It's good to see that Jankovic, Safina and Demented has stepped up their game. I shouldn't hate so much.
This Kuz-Bon match, though. Man, this is terrible. At least there's some rallies, so it's not Kuz-Chak bad, but still.

CSN rulez. Way to make that Bogota result stand up, girl.
Oh. She needs to beat AMG. That would just be too hideous. They have never played.
Seems Svetlana did what she does best - win while impressing nobody. This is her worst Slam - she might as well just lose to Zheng.
Thank you Vika for ending Mauresmo's misery.

Petr = Pyotr

Dementieva unimpressive against Stosur - first match of hers that I've seen this year.

Dementieva led 7-6, 5-2 with a matchpoint. Now it's 5-4 with Stosur serving. Are we seeing a repeat of RG '08? Doubt it, even though Dementieva isn't playing well.

No. Dementieva escapes 76 64.

That was a bit close. I am watching for the Dementieva choke. She must know the draw has opened wide for her - that usually starts the choking. But not just yet. Haas had me wondering there for about ... oh, thirty seconds. It went from 2-0 Haas to 2-3 really fast though.
