I mean, she's fine. Your assumption is correct to a point (they all suck) but Great played well when she needed to.
Look, the one time I watched her live, she was amazing and terrible all at once. I'm not going to say that she could win the Australian Open.
Although...let's be honest. SHE COULD WIN THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN!

TTC is awesome in January. They have rights to all these tournies. And all the Aussie ones at least are great, they definitely don't treat them like MM events. It's a lot different than say Delray Beach, or even Indian Wells where nobody cares and the announcers talk about stupid shit.

Okay, we finally ordered an HDTV today -- time to join the 21st century, only 11 years late! It's only a 42" LCD tv. But I really don't want a huge tv with people's giant faces crowding me in my own house. I can't wait to see tennis this way, though you guys have scared me about the players' pores, zits and dandruff and other such unwelcome sights. But I'm hoping to finally see some hills and valleys on the golf courses; they always look pretty flat on my tv, and I'm always thinking "what's the big deal here?" until I see someone's golf ball roll backwards 50 feet at huge speed. "Oh yeah, I guess there IS a slope there!"

HDTV is pretty awesome. If it's any consolation, I don't own my own (I use my roommate's when she's not watching endless amounts of "Mike & Molly" or ABC Family shows about teenagers or sororities). I think I might get a 32" one when I move out. It's just better.

Yeah, that IS a consolation! But I'm glad we waited. Spending $1000+ for a television, I just couldn't get my head around that, but prices are way lower now. Even now, janiehub was the moving force behind the change, and he doesn't even watch sports. But Verizon FiOS forces us to pay for their HD signals so we might as well use them.

She didn't even win a match! The least MJMS could have done was to go on to win the title.

Woohoo, the FedEx man just brought my new tv!
By the way I've never heard of Mike & Molly.

Just watched a TTC livestream for the first time. Visually it was fair -- very fuzzy when transferred by wire to the tv, but they all are -- but the mystery commentator felt the need to make a remark about every single stroke of every ball. Of course the commentator obviously differs for the different matches, different courts, but for now my RG livestream preference is going to be: 1. ESPN3 2. any random livestream, usually from Europe, as long as the sound and the picture are in synch. 3. TTC 4. livestream with sound and video not in sync

I have to listen to Rusedski for this Federer match. I wish I could punch him and his stupid accent in the face.

Okay, I don't know if anyone said this then...but this match ended the way it did because once Henin started cramping, Capriati FORGOT HOW TO PLAY TENNIS. Or, more accurately, she started pushing, hoping Henin would miss due to death. Did not work. Yes, you're right. The game at 6-5 Fat was the one where she should have broken for the match. I think she had 0-15 and an easy backhand putaway and she SLICED IT SHORT, just short enough for Justine to run back into the court, retrieve it and eventually win the point. All she had to do was hit the winner. But let's not forget the magnificent wind-blown Justine lob that somehow landed back in the court when Jennifer was at deuce in a matchgame. Capriati ACTUALLY PUMPED HER FIST WHEN THE BALL WAS STILL IN THE AIR! Then it came down in the court and she had to hit it! And lost the point! Had she won it, she would have had matchpoint. It was really the greatest match ever.

Trying to decide whether to sign up for the sports package again so I can get TTC. It's been a long time! Is the AO mainly a TTC event? I can't remember which Slams are and aren't.

I think so. Seriously I can't give up TTC ever again. And all the soccer channels too. I've come to a crossroads in my life where I am not sure I can be poor in the future.
