What, you neglect to mention that Vania lost (badly) to the resurgent Ashley harkleroad? Reminds me of that guy on Sid's board who hated Ashley so much. I can't even remember his name now; he's a Chicago Bulls fan. I neglected mentioning Ashley Harkleroad because I'm sure she had much more support than Vania and I am sure warm fuzzy posts are being posted all over cyberspace in her honour and heralding her return to the elite ranks of women's tennis, bah! Yes, I'm a grinchy old geezer, and damn proud of it!

Yes, I'm a grinchy old geezer, and damn proud of it! I prefer Vania myself. And I don't think AH is back in the elite ranks just because she qualified here. And I don't believe she has tons of fans, either, much to the dismay of those over-eager agents who swarmed around her like so many vultures when she was 15. I think of Ash now as just another Lindsay Lee-Waters: she's never going to be a world-beater, though she might have the odd Jill Craybas-at-Wimbledon-2005 moment, but I mildly wish the best for her, when I happen to think of her, which is not often! Ah! Chris Ip, wasn't that her hater's name?

Yes it was Chris. And I'm also sure there are lots of gooey posts about her husband also qualifying.

Maybe. But the teen crowd at wtaworld seems subdued about the whole matter. There was a thread posted there about Ashley's win over Vania, but it didn't attract much attention. I think it's just in yours and chrisx's head that anyone cares about these 2 journeymen these days. Whereas Vania, people do get excited about the kids.
