I don't think this situation has anything to do with Soderling...I think Mac was just commenting how thrown off the Nadals were by the French crowd's vociferous support of Robin when he never got it anywhere else, even in his home country. It's not that the Swedes or anyone else hates him or anything (though apparently many do), it's that the four-time champion had to battle the crowd against a player who just isn't famous or beloved enough to engender this type of support anywhere. I guess what they're saying (I'm not explaining it very well) is that, replace Soderling with a different fairly anonymous player, and it would have been the same. Like they would have chanted "KOELL-ER-ER" even though that would probably not even happen in Austria, you know? And so, therefore, what does that mean? I just LOLed at the way he explained it. "...in SWEDEN?!?!?"

Wouldn't that make sense, though? More fair to the Cirstea/Stosur winner, and spread the star power out so Lenglen isn't stuck with Boredo and Stosur.

Apparently Cirstea-Stosur is on Chatrier tomorrow, and Serena-Sweater is on Lenglen. Maybe they know Kuzzy's going to choke like a dog and they don't want to embarrass their best stadium with such a performance.

Robin was a huge underdog. It was a historical moment. Of course, they'd cheer him.
I think it's only being brought up because Rafa is easily butthurt.

There's no reason why Muzza stinks on clay. He moves well on it, and he loved it in his younger years. Meh. That's what I'm sayin'. Confused.

Soderling, the unloved Swede... why is that, again? I forget things. Is this in reference to bitchy Rafa and ass-picking imitations at Wimbledon or do I not know what I am talking about? He was unloved Swede long before that. I don't know why the Swedes don't love him like their other Swedes. I feel there was a story there somewhere, but my mind has lost it.

I wish I had called the loss to Gonzo, yesterday. I thought it, but that doesn't count.

I wish I had called the loss to Gonzo, yesterday. I thought it, but that doesn't count. I thought it, and then I thought what you posted at the start of this thread - why are people writing Murray off as a clay schmuck? And Murray looked vg against Anime. And Gonzo had a catwalk draw. Oh well! Wrong logic.

I was confused why some people thought this match was a sure win for Murray, whereas others don't seem to understand that he's not terrible on dirt. I need to stay away from MTF.

What a confusing semifinal. Gonzo I sort of understand. Soderling still confuses me. Good for him.

Yeah, it's odd, therefore it's fun. Unfortunately ESPN2 is opting to show the Cibulkova beatdown rather than Soderling's.

By the way, if any Maria fan here is worried, Maria said after the match that her shoulder felt fine.

Apparently Cirstea-Stosur is on Chatrier tomorrow, and Serena-Sweater is on Lenglen. Maybe they gave the no-names the early match? No...there are no early matches anymore, right? And since they have to play on Thursday too, I guess they'll each be first match on? If the schedule is out, they need to upload it. Fucking French. No surprise there, it costs almost the same price to buy a Lenglen tickets, they don't always put the best matches on Chatrier.

Then why don't they put some finals on Lenglen.

Azzanara was quite entertaining, actually. Well, I thought it was. You probably would have hated it. Azza was brilliant when she was good, but she was only good about 60% of the time, which wasn't enough. I almost forgave her the shrieking, and I don't mind racket-throwing. In fact, I encourage it.

I wish I'd watched it - consensus seems to have been that the quality was high, I'd have liked to see Azarenka zoning, and also the tantrums and meltdown.

Good ballbashing is great to watch! It's just when everyone does it (which isn't the case any more) and when it's so littered with random needless errors that I hate it. Like, I like watching "pushers" and counterpunchers when they have variety and strategy, but the Coetzers and Smashnovas of this world can fuck off.

You're right, it's the hit-or-miss crap that stinks. These two they're a lot more accurate than, say, that horrendous St. Kim vs JenFat RG final. And they're hitting acute angles, finishing points off at the net sometimes, throwing in the odd dropshot. Congrats once again to Dinara!
