How's that Stosur match, Ali? Any real signs of life in Sorana yet? Stosur is playing smart - attacking second serves and really going all out without being completely reckless. Sorana really isn't helping matters with needless errors and lame dropshot attempts that inevitably end up in the net - oh, and she keeps grumbling to her box.

Serena's so pissed that Sweaty didn't roll over and lose that 5-6 game as playbook dictates.
If Sweat loses this now after 6-1 I will have to hate her forever.

Comment of the tournament: "'Davay.' Is that Russian?" -- Leif Shiras
I'm sorry...I really hope he was being sarcastic, because...has he not watched any women's tennis for the last 5 years??

She takes it 7-3 with an AWESOME forehand winner! I didn't expect SWETA to step it up like that.

Stosur's growing in confidence - she's hitting winners from the baseline now!

I mean, this is merely laying the groundwork for her eventual 7-6, 5-7, 1-6 loss, but still. Great TB!

Good for Sweaty! What a surprise, especially for Nav who talks about Serena as if she's Superman. Oh, but also a happy surprise for me, and now I don't have to hate sweet Sweta.

Enjoy this event: she's really just an error machine, and this form won't last.

Just one thing, Sweata looks determined and full of self-belief in a way I haven't seen before. Sure, we all know what's going to happen, but it's still great to see this new side of her.

I wish commentators wouldn't say that they don't understand how the rankings can be screwy (re: the possibility of Silliams winning here, and thus holding the USO, AO and RG, but still being ranked No 2). I mean...it's not ideal, obviously, but the rankings are simple. It's basic addition. Blame Silliams' pathetic attitude to regular tour events and/or Safina's pathetically chumping up in big finals, don't imply the rankings are so arcane and weird that they'r ebeyond you're understanding.
Anyway! Sweta 3-0.

Stosur to serve at 6-1, 4-1 after a hour of play. Samantha Stosur winning the French Open would be just...so apt. Women's tennis in 2009. CATCH THE FEVER.

Really want someone to remind Stosur of her choke against Silliams from 5-4, 40-0 up in Sydney. She can do that against Baby BAG, too!

Cirstea converts a breakpoint! Her 9th of the match (4th of the game). She's serving at 1-6, 2-4.

Carillo, who is usually pretty astute (but less so as the years go on) always just starts yelling nonsense when the topic of the Williams sisters's rankings comes up. "I DON'T WANNA GLARG. CNA NA NOO. What, huh, just don't even bother." Like...what you said. It's not that difficult. And forget about when people pass one of them even though they make it far, because one of them is defending a large amount of points. "HOW CAN THEY REACH THE FINAL AND DROP A SPOT? SNEE KEE BLOOOOOO!" Hello? 52-week rolling rankings? Didn't you play on the Tour, Mary? Were you not ranked? Oh, right, you were.
