"I was a little tired halfway through Kooyong and right after, too. Now the last couple days have been good for me." -- R. Federer
"I can just hear this song, this Beyonce song Check On It. I just feel like getting down, doing the eagle. I have a lot of energy right now, it's really hot." -- S. Williams, not tired, apparently

I love what the press has been writing about Venus and her being TIRED of tennis.
Questions have been raised about Venus's commitment to tennis with a budding career in the fashion world beckoning, but she insisted she wanted to get back to her best.
A budding fashion career! Why, we've only heard that for the last eight years with zero indication that is based in reality.

Well she is in her 8th year of fashion school. I guesss she only takes one course per semester. She said she will finally be finishing up this year. I'm not surprised that Justine was tired, after that horrible 3-hour final in the heat of Sydney. I'm just glad she got through this match quickly and has a day off. She never used to do well in Round 1 of Slams, so this is a good improvement.

It's not only the players who are affected by this AO Fatigue epidemic! Staying up late 3 nights in a row to follow matches online or on tv is making me darned tired, too. I think tonight I will pretend the tournament is over, that 2 players I like have already won the mens' & womens' titles, beating 2 players I dislike in the finals. Then I can happily go off to sleep, perchance to dream ....

"I think he was trying to make the points a little bit shorter. That's normally a sign of a guy, you know, starting to tire a little bit." -- P. Luzcak
"That was my problem today. I was tired." -- T. Pironkova
"It was coming to a long match and I was feeling tired and cramping on the left leg." -- G. Coria
"No, he was tired already, he was not moving well, I know if I play solid he has no chance to beat me." -- D. Hrbaty

Living on the west coast has helped my sleep deprivation. Also, why are there fewer sprained ankles this year. The only bad one was Sromova's.

"After the third set I was very tired. If I play the fourth set 100 percent and I lose it, the match is over, I can't play the fifth." -- F. Santoro

Fortunately, Sromova's sprain must not have been as severe as it apparently looked: I saw her name yesterday in either the dubs or the Mixed draw, still around, still playing.

I was surprised she kept playing against Christine. That was a very nasty sprain. I wish her good luck. Because she's cute. Her game is so 150rankedyish.

"And so after her match I said, 'This is why you were mentally tired, so this is how we're going to do it in Melbourne: when you have a match, you're going to hit, you're going to go to your room, and you're going to sit there, you're not going to go shopping'. It's just the little sacrifices players have to make."

Stosur is coached by GIGI FERNANDEZ!?!?!?!? Oh, Gigi. But I think this supports the Stosur-as-lesbian comments?

I think it is well-known that Stosur is a lesbian. Last summer she was in a relationship that I don't think was secret or anything. As for maybe liking to shop, that doesn't mean anything. Maybe she likes to shop for cool tools, like this: www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=26215 , or other typical lesbian accessories. Oops, actually I can hyperventilate over great tools myself ... and I DID spend some time working as a carpenter ... hmmm ...
