Much easier for Bepa in the 2R! She's improved on last year's result, bum ankle notwithstanding...
Things will get much trickier in a battle with La Razz!!

She'll almost certainly lose to La Razz. She's striking the ball well but playing far too passively - she allowed both Stoop and Johansson to be the aggressors too much. Still, good first step back to full form.
Go, Anime Eyes.

Roby and Serena have never played! I find that very surprising.
This is more interesting:
3 Charleston 2009 V Razzano(13) - V Zvonareva(3) 1-1 QF Dubai 2009 V Razzano - V Zvonareva(5) 7-67 7-5 2 Montreal 2008 V Razzano - V Zvonareva(8) 6-3 1-6 7-62 QF Auckland 2007 V Zvonareva(5) - V Razzano-Q 7-5 2-0 QF Amelia I. 2005 V Razzano - V Zvonareva(6) 6-4 6-4 1 Strasbourg 2003 V Zvonareva(6) - V Razzano 6-0 6-4
So, 3-0 for La Razz over the last 18 months...plus that match in Charleston is where Bepa's ankle exploded.

After getting bagelled in the first set, qualifier Kulikova takes the second set against Kleybanova!
So...do we support "bageled" or "bagelled"? When I was younger, double letters before the suffix seemed to be the norm (e.g. "travelled," "kidnapping") but now I see it more often with singles (e.g. "traveled," "kidnaping"). I think the double looks more correct to me, especially dealing with short vowel forms. Like "kidnaping" looks to me like it should rhyme with "kid raping," which, though apt, isn't correct.

Wow, Anime Eyes breaks Queer Eye as he's serving for the second set, with a great rally that ends on a dead net cord.
I always thought traveled/travelled was a US/UK thing? So I write travelled and bagelled. "Kidnaping" is surely just illiterate.

Llodra was apparently injured in that race to the net that saw him collide with the ballgril, and had to retire.

Whatever I read growing up always led me to do "travelled/travelling" so...I dunno. My dictionary agrees with you about that. I guess I was a secretly British child. I remember seeing "KIDNAPED" on the front page of one of the NYC tabs about 20 years ago and freaking the fuck out.

Almagro is in his second straight 5-setter, this time vs. Beck. He and Monaco apparently almost duked it out suring their marathon the other day. Monaco was accusing Almagro of faking a wrist injury.

Wiktionary says "kidnaped" is also allowed, although I don't know how reliable the source is.
I remember writing "traveled" in a dictation once and the teacher wouldn't accept the American spelling and counted it as a mistake. Which it really was, as I didn't intentionally use US spelling.

Q. You were a very popular winner with the crowd. To what extent do you think Maria's grunting or shrieking turned the crowd in your favor? GISELA DULKO: No, I think, you know, it was my first time on the Centre Court. Maybe the people didn't know me till today. And, well, I think I start the match really well, and maybe the people get into that and they like it. I don't think because of Maria. I think they just like the way I start to play and the way I was in the court. They were a big support after. Q. When the game got so tense at the end, it was a terrific game at the end, did the decibels seem to go up? GISELA DULKO: The what? Q. The sound of the grunting from Maria, the shouting. As a spectator, I was more conscious of it. What about you? Did it begin to get on your nerves a little bit?GISELA DULKO: No. To be honest, I was so focused on the match. I was trying to play my best tennis. It was a big game for me. I didn't really.Q. It didn't bother you at all?GISELA DULKO: No, not at all, no.There goes that story.

American Taylor Dent double-faulted 21 times and lost to Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the completion of a first-round match suspended because of darkness, 7-5, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4.
“My bad days are pretty skanky,” Dent said. ;D

I would be amazed if it wasn't out there. I don't quite feel up to googling, though. Anime Hit a real purple patch at the start of the 4th set and went a break up, then at 3-1 just stopped being able to hit balls in the court. Not watching now but obviously things got worse.

My predictions were horrible!!
Why does Dulko beat EVERYBODY at least once all while never getting out of the scrub range? She has the amount of top player wins that some top TEN players do not have.
That's a good W, though. I want Sharapova to earn this comeback and so far that's happening. But I had a LOL moment at the Wimbledon "match analysis" - it claimed she has lost to "highly consistent" players so far like Cibulkova (ok), A-Bond (mmm ...) and ... Na Li. Right. Go watch Na Li play sometime.
U-Rad highly disappointing me, losing easily to Cibulkova. Don't look now, she's only three wins from proving Wertheim right!
Kleybanova's loss is truly terrible. She's stagnating right now - beyond the few big wins, Venus on clay, Ana at the AO, this hasn't been a great season.
Yesterday was Schiavone's 29th birthday. Nice present today, sending out De Brito.
Zheng's loss is poor.
Double bagel for Olaru. Ouch. At least we know Azarenka is in form.
3rd round matches on the bottom half!
Everybody's picking Razzano over Vera and yes, that makes sense. But I'm still not ready to trust Razzano. Vera's had two matches to get some form, so maybe she pulls that one out.
Schiavone-Bartoli. Who the hell knows? Whichever player shows up will win.
Vesnina is going to beat Cibulkova, right? Elena's had a breakthrough season so far, winning this match is important. She CAN get out of that quarter.
Anybody know anything about Kulikova? I don't. Dementieva blew away Rezai, which wasn't what I had expected. Still don't trust her on grass, she could lose any time. Or make another semi.
Azarenka should shred the not-quite-ready Cirstea.
Petrova-Dulko. Gisela can't be allowed to win another one or her raking might go up. Therefore, I guess she's out to Petrova.
Hantuchova-Sugiyama. God, how boring. Sugiyama is about to turn 34. I guess that's reason enough to hope she wins.
Serena will beat Vinci.

Why does this entire board think Sexy Domi is pathetic on grass? She's had weak results in her 4 matches on the surface so far. She stunk in a grass warmup after a career best at RG. You could say the same for most of the field. I think her game translates well, actually.

Haven't been able to watch any matches this year thanks to work and it almost doesn't even bother me. Wiktionary says "kidnaped" is also allowed, although I don't know how reliable the source is. I remember writing "traveled" in a dictation once and the teacher wouldn't accept the American spelling and counted it as a mistake. Which it really was, as I didn't intentionally use US spelling. The one I used to trip over was 'focussing.' Also not a fan of 'gray' but that's a different issue. No, it is acceptable and preferred now. I hate it and don't understand it, that's what I'm saying. If one has to be "napping," then one clearly has to be "kidnapping" too. Ugh. Americans.

Possible upset if Dulko doesn't choke. Sharapova looks every bit as much of a sitting duck as she did at this time last year.
