She'll be 16 in a couple of weeks.
Robson and EVIL Micaela Carolina are the only prodigies to appear in the past 3 seasons or so, and even them aren't progressing as expected (particularly Micaela Carolina). So you can see how desperate everyone is getting for a genuine supernova to shake things up, and Robson has one of the appropriate nationalities to boot.

It must be getting hard for poor Melanie to BELIEVE any more. When's the last time she won a match? US Open?

Tut tut Janie, seeking to minimise her single valiant post-USO win, in Tokyo qualies, over 801st-ranked bumpkin Aki Yamasoto.

It must be getting hard for poor Melanie to BELIEVE any more. When's the last time she won a match? US Open? USA is eliminated... Spain def. Romania and will make the final unless they lose 3-0 to Australia. Wuhu!

"Muzza" or Boredo Spain should take the doubles. "Muzza" seems to become some sort of doubles demigod all of a sudden, but Robson should screw up enough for Evil UK to lose.

It must be getting hard for poor Melanie to BELIEVE any more. When's the last time she won a match? US Open? Oh, she still believes. And she's still a little snot on court. The downfall of this one will be fun, indeed.

Sheesh, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for MJMS. I'm rooting for her bigtime this year. At least, I planned to, till she lost to Robson. What kind of thing is that to do!

So, I watched that Robson/MJMS match. Maria Jose was just terrible, unable to keep anything in the court. I wouldn't put much into it. It's also a good matchup for Robson as her glaring weakness that is movement wasn't tested.
