I thought Sunshine/Shrieker was actually a really entertaining match. Wozniacki does more than just "push" the ball back. She's never going to be a power player, but she can crack the ball when she wants to. The difference is that she realizes slamming the ball at every opportunity isn't necessarily a great plan.
Sharapova's serve is wack.

Here's the other thing no one is mentioning: Woz is MENTALLY TOUGH. Don't we remember what a rarity that is in SEWTA these days? She sure looked to me like she fully expected to win that match in straight sets, and she did. I LOVE THIS ABOUT HER

I...did not expect this result. I also did not check the schedule, and thought it wouldn't have been so early. Gotta respect Wozniacki, like her style or not she's bringing results. I'm also impressed that her stupid schedule hasn't caught up to her yet. She's not enthralling to watch; as I've said before, unlike counterpunchers like Sugiyama or ASV or SexiDomi, she doesn't, have that buzzing perpetual-motion thing going on. Her talent seems to be to keep rallies in neutral even more than play defensively. But she's not just a pusher either, and WTAW seem to want to label anyone prepared to rally more than, say, BAG a pusher - appending that label to Dulgheru, who constantly aims for the lines every time I've seen her, was one of the most silly things I've seen. And as Janie says, mental toughness! Literally nothing gets her down, even though she has such a limited repertoire to work with. Kaia When I left for the pub, she hadn't won a game!

Frana is talking about the Political ideas of PETKOVIC
He says she is an immigrant from former yugoslavia (she lives in Germany)
As she grew up she started to study more the history of the southern slav nations, and the yugoslavian war, and the more she read about it, the more she realized how much she admires the German political system.
She says that once she retires from tennis she will found her own political party.

Our commentators are talking about Bepa. How she's continuing to study, working toward her degree, always in touch with professors and fellow students while on Tour, and haunts the bookstores. She must run into Petkorazzi there!

This is a bit silly but how is Continental's name plastered all over the boards? Continental merged with United several months ago and the new company is called United. No. They announced intent to merge months ago, but only got regulatory approval within the last couple of weeks. They are still two completely separate entities, and will remain so until the merger goes to shareholder vote later this month. Didn't know that, thanks! I noticed they'd rebranded twice in the last few months with updated livery each time and assumed the businesses had already merged too.

Bepa's top is so loose fitting, like she borrowed it off a guy or something. To me her outfit looks mismatched, like she picked up a couple of random items off the floor and put them on. That's the way I get dressed, but it's odd to see it in a WTA player; they're usually all about how they'd love to design fashions, how they design their own outfits, etc. This one is disconcerting to look at. Anyway, I'm done with that match. It's like watching an NBA player up against a junior college player.

I hope Petkorazzi is a government-hating libertarian.
From 3-1 in the 1st, after hearing Mary Carillo say her 187th stupid compliment about Maria despite sucking, and Maria being Maria, I watched it all on mute. Quite pleasant, actually. I chuckled every time Karolina was on the stretch and hit that deep ball 1 foot from the baseline. How the hell does she always do that.
No, WozDen is a pusher. She just does so with more pace than the usual 5'1" pushers. And I seriously tried to figure her strategy in this match. There is none. She's content hitting cross-court FHs all day, into your FH, because she knows she's never going to miss and you will hit an error. The end. Shit works, I can't hate Karolina for it.
