Great news about the Belgian team. The word on the street is that Ruben Bemelmans is playing!
Not sure who this female player is, Hennin or something like that...

So Justine won and then played a pretty good doubles match. Much better then I expected. Of course it helped that she played poor old Alicia. But still!

"Alicia's not the easiest opponent because she changes the rhythm a lot and I lost a bit of my rhythm, but it was good to win," said Henin, who intends to spend her day off Sunday at the beach.
"I can't play at 100 percent yet, without pain, but the elbow is getting better. A few months ago I didn't know if I was going to be able to come to Australia.
"I'll need a bit of time probably, to be at my best, but my motivation is high. I just have to be patient."

What is this pain in the elbow business? How will the elbow get better by playing?

What is this pain in the elbow business? How will the elbow get better by playing? I have no idea. Maybe it became one of those small pains that every player deals with? Their usual "not everyone is 100% healthy"? Anyway, Belgium won 3-0 over "Kazakstan" today, so well done. Justine Henin d Sesil Karatantcheva 6-4, 6-3 Ruben Bemelmans d Andrey Golubev 6-4, 6-4 Henin/Bemelmans d Karatantcheva/Golubev 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(8) Justine was with her usual up and downs, came back from 1-3 in the 2nd.

I've never heard of this Bemelmans character; that's a pretty cool win for him. For Justine, Ivanovic is apparently next up, so that'll be a good test.

What is this pain in the elbow business? How will the elbow get better by playing? I think it means that the elbow is still painful but that she is not harming it at this point by playing through the pain. Here are her latest comments: "I spend two hours every day only on my elbow. I'm not that young any more, so I spend more time at the physio, but after this kind of problem it's normal that you spend a lot of time on re-education. I'm not over yet with that, it's probably going to take a few more months. But I can play, and that's the most important thing for me.
''It's not that easy, especially after the injury, so I'm working hard to come back. It's the first two matches so I know it's going to take little bit of time, but it's just great to have the opportunity to play a few matches in Perth, and being in the competition again … I feel very happy to be back.''I don't know if I ever realized the Hopman Cup happens way over in Perth!

Isner def. Mahut 6-3 7-6 in 90 minutes.
The USians are 2-0 and will clinch a berth in the meaningless final if they beat Team GB.
Serbia look to be the other likely finalist.

Holy awesome!
Justine just beat Ana 6-4 6-3 in a pretty tight match (despite the scoreline). This was some amazing performance from Justine, all-court game, and Ana played well actually. Still had problems with ball toss, but served really good, was simply rushed by Justine on every single point. Both won some fantastic points and the highlights reel should be worth to watch.
Comparing to the dross that WTA tour produced last year, it was very refreshing.
Comparing to Justine's performance last year, I was simply happy to see her playing some smart clean tennis with numerous advances to the net.

Good. I like it when Justine doesn't blow.
Is this tournament still going on? I feel like it's been running for two weeks now.

The finals are AJDE vs USA right?

The finals are AJDE vs USA right? It was supposed to be. Ana had to withdraw through, abdominal strain, so Belgium is in the finals now thanks to that mixed win actually. Here are the highlights from the mixed doubles, btw, where Justine was totally the best player out there, especially at the net. Loved the point where Novak was trying to pass her at the net standing on the baseline and couldn't do it. Justine's return winners from Novak's serve were a pleasure to watch as well. It's fair to note that Ana had several return winners on Bemelmans serve as well.

Thanks, Lady! Very fun movie, I like all 4 players. Ana and Nole are having fun but JH sure has her game-face on, doesn't she! But I've only watched the first set so far; maybe Nole's laughter will soon fade ...

Is Mattek the one who once played in a tube top? Nasty tattoos.
