Headline of the article on the official site: "Queen Maria makes a regal pass into the last 16" Does she officially go as "Queen Maria" now? I get the fans calling her that, but on the official slam site? It's okay with me if Maria the Queen in Australia, but ONLY IF Bernie Tomic is the King and they have to dance together and sleep together and everything.

I didn't care much for the day's results. A shame about JuJu, Wussquet, The Hair, FSG and Nishikori.
On the other hand, well done Manislas!

Q. You lose weight? SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: The people say to me, yeah I did lose some weight. I don't know, looks like to me as well. It's a little bit easy, less trunk to carry on, so... Q. And can I ask you something about you and Francesa? You're friends outside of court. She always says nice things about you and you about her. SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: I didn't start to talk about her yet. How did you know? Q. In the past. SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Maybe I want to do big news. (Laughter.)

Q. Do you remember anything in particular of your previous matches with Francesca Schiavone? SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Yeah, we play Fed Cup and I lost. We had kind of not understanding, but we had talk about it afterwards in the locker room. We didn't talk for some time. I didn't shake her hand. So after we spoke in the locker room, so we are completely over it. I said sorry or whatever. We just talked. She misunderstands me; I misunderstand her. First me, I misunderstand and I didn't shake and she got pissed or whatever. It's women's stuff. But it's women's mentality or whatever it is. In the end we are fine. So it's great.

Q. Can you tell us a few words about Kim Clijsters. FRANCESCA SCHIAVONE: Yeah, but why Kim? Q. Just in general, what can you tell us about her comeback? FRANCESCA SCHIAVONE: You know who is Kim. I think I don't have to tell you who is. Fran wins!

Vavinka is going to be real trouble for Roddick. I smell upset.
I'm a bit worried that Sharapova is going to get to the semis, or perhaps worse. She must be stopped! Go Petkorazzi!
Petkorazzi is officially the weirdest thing since the Tennis Angels, btw.
Yes, Venus gave it a shot. That was noble. But I wish she would have asked for the afternoon start or at the very least to play the early night match if she at all suspected that she could not play. People pay a lot for those seats, they want to see a match. I can understand the booing. If she had just defaulted they could've shifted another match in there. If she had retired earlier in the day, no big deal to the people with grounds passes.

I agree. I understand that she wanted as late a start as possible, but...yeah, now everyone is screwed. It's true. She never retires so I guess we can give her a pass on that. Still, it's annoying. She played only seven points!! She ruined Petkorazzi's moment!!~!13!@

Did Venus actually win any of those seven points? I agree. I understand that she wanted as late a start as possible, but...yeah, now everyone is screwed. Organisers' fault, ultimately. They must have been perfectly aware that this might happen. And Venus would have realised that a few hours wouldn't have made any difference to her.

Enuf already with the Petko dance. I hope she'll give that up soon. Still, she's likable even if she doesn't give it up.
I think Venus was seriously hoping for a miracle-type recovery. After all, Serena got that Wimbledon rain which allowed her to beat a very stupid Hantu on a crippled leg, so why shouldn't Vee expect a miracle, too? I think she was hoping that getting warmed up, getting the adrenaline rush, as she said in her PC, would mute the pain to a bearable level. I feel bad for the fans, but worse for her. ,

Even if it had been the first of the two night matches it wouldn't have been a big deal to people. It occurs to me that Pat Rafter was much more lustily booed after retiring against Pioline at the beginning of the fifth set in their match at the USO in 1999. To answer an earlier question, Venus won one of the seven points played.
