Goooooooooooooooo Fit Dave. I think if he plays up on the baseline and controls the centre of the court, he has a small chance. Dulkonetta. Nestorotnik. Carballes. Batchy Bouchard. Gooooooooooooooooooooo

I'm supporting Anduh as well. Though I don't like the idea that I might miss a Murray/Djokovic final

Normally I'd probably root for Fit Dave, and he definitely has a chance here, but I want a Murray-Djokovic final. It's about fucking time.

Seems kind of mean to root for Andy just so I can see him lose in the final...but thats what I'm going to do.

I want shitloads of drama and to feel the psychological pain and stress of Murray

Yep, Murray-Djokovic for me. They haven't played such a big match between them, which makes the result unpredictible, at least before the final.

I think Fit Dave has more of a shot than people think. Anduh can't do his wimpy pushing stuff and beat him. I don't know how well he's playing either, his draw has been ridiculously easy with the few talented players sucking goats against him. Their history is also close, although Dave only wins on the clay.

Lindsay is ok at commentating. She's too much like the usual ESPN crew (suck up to American players, generalize everything and know nothing about lesser players) for me.

For a tennis player, Lindsay sounds relatively smart. So, she's not terrible.
Anyway, Leelee is right about Ferrer. I don't really rate Ferrer's shot in a final against Djokovic, though, so I'm rooting against any upsets at this point.

How many semis has Fit been in, anyway? I seem to recall another one, somewhere or other, back when he was top 5.

He made the USO SF once...I don't remember how that happened. I think that was it.
He also made the final of the Championships one year, which is insane.

I thought he might have beaten Rafa at that USO, and he did, in the fourth round. Then he beat Chela (!) in the QF, and lost to Djokovic to put Novak in his first final.

This SF run is similar to the 07 USO where Rafa was also injured during the broken knee threatening to retire period. Dave got routined by Hobak in the morning match. If Ferrer does make the final, expect another boring beatdown, baaad matchup there.

I remember Ferrer in the SF but man, Chelala in the USO QF...not only do I not remember that, I'm not sure if I believe it.

Chelala used to be almost good. It makes sense.

I remember the 4R match that was shoved on Armstrong for no reason with Wawrinka and Stan did one of the worst chokes ever to lose that one. Thankfully, he makes slam QFs now.

I remember Ferrer in the SF but man, Chelala in the USO QF...not only do I not remember that, I'm not sure if I believe it. Chela made the US Open quarterfinals TWICE That match with Ferrer, and also a quite epic and famous match against Roddick in 2202 if I recall correctly He also made the french open quarterfinal in 2004, losing to Henman the year of the Gaudio Coria final

Is Murray considered a pusher on MTF? I understand women playing like that, but a man?

Yes, the apologists of Murray defend him by saying that he is not a pusher, just a Miroslav Mecir style strategist, a defense that makes everybody laugh.
I like his game actually, and consider him smart and talented. But his forehand does suck, he finds it hard to be offensive with his forehand, Ferrer, who is not famous for his forehand at all, has a better more aggressive forehand than Murray.
If Murray ever makes it to number 1 he will be the number 1 with the worst forehand since Edberg (who was a serve volleyer so you could forgive him for having a weak groundstroke)

I liked how Ferrer used a smash for that high ball on the baseline, while Murray in a similar situation just hit that casual mid-court placed backhand.
Ferrer for the win!
