Staying up. Rooting for Djokovic. Banning Ali.
Actually, I don't really give a shit who wins this one. It's good.

I only want the match to go to 5 sets and be competitive and dramatic
I am recording it since I have to leave house right now, I will miss the first half

I didn't know that Nestor was born in Serbia to Serbian parents. I actually thought Nestor was a rather classy Canadian surname.
Now I see it's just a Canadized version of Nestorovic

And why the hell are Murray's balls landing around the service line? Ugh.

I thought ESPN was being a little premature too. Poor Roger, everytime he loses a match everybody wants to retire him. Andre was 33 when he reached #1 for the last time and the same age (or 32 and many months) when he won his final Slam. He was also 35 and in the US Open final. Roger's 29 with twice the Slams Andre has already.
I think maybe everybody has been spoiled by Rafa and Roger in a different way: whenever they lose to someone else the new guy is expected to dominate like they have even though men's tennis hasn't always played out like that.
God, that was about half an hour to play three games.

Murray saying out loud "what the fuck" after netting a slice backhand and the Eurosport commentator apologizing for that and then they showed a replay and he was stunned that they were showing such images again and then he went on a rant of how it was shocking that the chair umpire doesn't penalize players for the language they use and how this was wrong of the players as there are impressionable youngsters in the crowd and even the BALL KIDS!!1

But Serena overcame all of them, except Henin who remained a challenger.

The ESPN talking heads have consistently maintained that Serena is the real #1 for years whether she plays or not, or whether she wins or not, really. Remember, when Serena loses, she "beats herself". And everytime someone else got to #1 it was always mentioned in the next sentence that Serena doesn't play enough or else she'd be the #1. Henin was the only player who got much respect and even that was a while coming. One thing that is common to both tours - I think everybody flips the fuck out over one match in tennis. What happened one minute ago is all people can focus on or something.

The reaction when Sharapova won was, well justified, considering she was 17 and the manner in which she dethroned Serena in the final. But, then she was supposed to take over the sport which never happened. But yes, I was also thinking of the parade of endless #1's and well none of them were ever taken too seriously as you pointed out - from Jankovic to Safina. And now Wozniacki.

Watching Murray in that last game was like watching Hingis play a big match later in her career. Standing 10 feet behind the baseline getting balls back won't get the job done, moron.

I remember people talking up Sharapova but didn't that die off pretty fast? Maria did nothing for several months after the Wimbledon win and my recollection is that people's expectations died soon after. So Djokovic got a set. Great defending in that final game of the second set.

Maria not taking over the sport was one of the greatest things that could have happened to womens tennis, strictly in regards to how often I watch the sport on TV. Had she taken over, instead of watching a dozen women's tennis matches in the past three years, I may have only watched three.
Anyway, you know who blows? Murray.

Trivia question that I do not know the answer to: How many Slam finals has one guy lost without ever winning one? Did Cedric Pioline lose three? I know I can rattle off a few at two (Corretja, Phillippoussis).
