First player to be booted out of 2011 RG: Alla Kudryavtseva, slaughtered by Halep (ROU). Benesova quickly follows her out the door. Stosur looking very good, says Lindsay D.

Poor Jarkko with his bad draw. Not able to make much of an impression here. Looks like a 3rd-set bagel is coming up. Hewitt dropped out before his first match, once again underscoring the fact that I've got to find someone new to hate on the men's side.

Anime Eyes making a somewhat better effort in his 3rd set than Jarkko, manages to hold for 4-5, still obviously in trouble since he lost the first 2 sets

Wouhou for 33-year-old journeyman Ramirez-Hidalgo! Serves it out, quashes the mini-revival of Cilic.

Janie, did you wake up early for this?

Only by accident. Birds outside my window woke me up way early. So I figured might as well turn on RG.

Very disappointing from Dokic. She looked great in the first set but after that she blew BP after BP. The two players were evenly matched but obviously La Dushe was able to keep the ball inside the lines more. Hope JJ will send her packing.

Today has to be the most uninteresting day of play at a GS ever.

The Sunday start ALWAYS takes me by surprise. Shocked that Pironkova wasn't the first seed out. Sixth 1R Slam loss in a row for Ernie

Oh, Ernie Mattek-Sands starting to recover from a bad start. Going to check how Sveta's doing, but with trepidation ...

From what I understand, Gulbis is up to 21 straight sets at Slams lost.

BMS is recovering, yes. She squeaked out the second set 7-6 (5). Unfortunately she was just broken in the third after breaking to start. This one ain't over.

Marino won in straights for any and all of us who are following her career. She next will play MJMS who dismissed Peer in a mini-surprise.
Lepchenko is serving for the first set against Pennetta. However, down 15-40. Oooh, back to deuce.

Lepchenko wins the first set 6-3.
BMS and Parra are exchanging breaks. 2-2.

Apparently Johansson, a couple of years after gifting us that Diatchenko match where she blew 8 MPs, 4 of them with double faults, ended her match against Gorgeous with...three consecutive double faults.

Today has to be the most uninteresting day of play at a GS ever. Seriously! I was looking for something, anything worthy to watch. Nothing.

Dokic's first set was really good. Some amazing FH ROS's and winners.
