I decided to watch some this, just in time to see Vera lose. Vera knows how to style a comeback from a set down, though. Dolonts seems really out of her depth. She does hit an okay ball, but once Fran gets her moving and extends the rallies she nearly always draws an error.

Lisicki is a verrrrrry scary prospect for Bepa in R2, in her otherwise soft draw. SAD PANDA

Vera is up a break in set two.
Ilhan and GGL have gone five!
I thought that Andreev was down a break in set two but maybe I imagined that.
Dolonts will not get bagelled today!

Bepaaaaaa Handed the break back with stupidity, now a game away from going out. Though even if she wins this, she'd only face the woman who beat her here last year. Yes, that would be Rodionova I wonder what Bepa tweaked in her game to make clay her worst surface by some way, after it started out as the one she was most comfortable on?

Gotta be said though, Sabine is playing really well. Good to have her back, she'll be in the top 100 after RG regardless of the result here.

Calm, measured tennis to get through that game from 30-30 and then to break Lisicki again...loved how she snuck into the net and how she's exploiting Lisicki's wonkier BH.

Two great serves and two Lisicki FHs that have yet to land = second set Bepa! And she's looking so calm and collected.

I need Bepa in the second week, dammit.

Me too. All the announcers (ESPN2, ESPN3) are rooting openly for Lisicki. I can understand that, but people, it's BEPA!

Bepa saves a match point...

...and breaks Lisicki! Bit of a fail game from Sabine there.
Seeing Bepa so calm is FREAKY. She's not doing the grunting or the weird smiling that she was doing last year, just completely icy and emotionless.

Not the blood-pressure cuff! Anything but the blood-pressure cuff! She's deconditioned; let her faint! ;D

I was going to watch this, but then the first three live streams I tried to access didn't work, so I gave up. The end!

I was going to watch this, but then the first three live streams I tried to access didn't work, so I gave up. The end! Yeah, there is livestream trouble today. But right now you're only missing a girl in a chair surrounded by medicos. Bepa back on court, practicing serves

This is ridiculous. The courtside is no place for a hospital. Play or go home! MJF says she has never seen the like of this.

I do feel bad for Lisicki. I like her a lot. I am only complaining about the rules that allow this kind of extended medical break. Now she's getting the Rosie O'Donnell leg rubdown, on the changeover. Pls. serve it out and end the agony, Bepa.

Weird, she didn't seem in any physical trouble before the time-out but she's definitely struggling now, can't even compete. Sad ending.

And Lisicki hits a winner to start the game. Rosie's a good leg-rubber!

Eh, wtf is going on? The stream stopped so I went to tf and there was a thread saying Lisicki won so I went to make my tea and then came back here, or did I fall asleep and this is a weird dream like when the Chinese guy was trying to set me on fire?

No, it's a sad, strange ending. Credit to Lisicki for hanging in there instead of quitting, but now she has collapsed on the ground and is sobbing. Complete physical breakdown. A stretcher has been brought out to cart her back to the lockerroom.
The way Vera handled the whole bizarre situation was truly awesome.

Poor Lisicki. Face down on the ground in floods of tears, getting stretchered off now. Your feed seems to be a couple minutes slower than the ESPN coverage!
