I think Radwanska will upset Sharapova tomorrow.

Nah, Shriek owns A-Rad and has beaten her when in much worse form than this. I'm really happy A-Rad got that USO win as I doubt she'll repeat it again. The new, improved A-Rad still doesn't really beat top players as far as I can see. Really, really want Twilight to beat Toad. I can see him taking a set but not more than that for...the same reasons as A-Rad/Shriek Horribly early for Lee Na and Kvitty to meet. I guess Petra's taking that. I'm relying on the winner to beat Azza and, if necessary, Shriek though.

Also, this is not Day Neuf related, but looking ahead: OMG, surely we must get our third Sweta/Fran epic of the year in the SF! Everything is pointing towards it. So weird to think that Sweta was involved in the match of the year so far.

Mariabot owns A-Rad. Crappy matchup, sigh. This tournament would be so awesome if she'd go away.

I wonder what happened to Kvitova in 2009? We bemoan that there are no supernovas these days, but her career trajectory actually does fit - swept through the Hidden World, was beating Venus in her third Tour match, reached a Slam second week within a few months of that and her first title less than a year later. Then she basically dies from Jan 2009-June 2010 apart from that USO run (and it's not like Safina was a Real No 1 by then) - but since then has picked up exactly where she left off. So actually, once you think of that period as a single block that there must have been a physical/personal reason for, her career has been much less random than someone like Rezai, your archetypal inconsistent basher who can beat anyone but will never win Slams.

Kvitova is real! I said this many moons ago! She's already reached at least the 4R at every major, and she's currently killing Leena to get to the RG QF, which leaves only USO. (Not a jinx.)

Oh yeah, she always looked like she could be 4 Real. But what the hell happened in those 18 months? Horrendous loss after horrendous loss, out of step with the rest of her progress.

Wow. That was a great win for Li, and a bit unexpected. That was all about playing the match, not the points - we all know what spectacular shotmakers both women are, and they both showed it, along with the expected errors, and the match never settled into a rhythm. But the way Li managed the match, the scoreline, the mini momentum shifts, was so much superior.

I just found this titbit in an ESPN news story from the first week Alex Noble, Lady's Gaga's fashion designer, will create a piece of couture fashion for Mattek-Sands to wear at the Wimbledon players' party, consisting only of tennis materials -- strings, balls, grommets, etc.

Oh dear. What was that Gael. Played beautifully on serve to get to two MPs...dumps two routine groundstrokes in the net, then Ferrer hits the line on an amazing rally, then a Dementievaesque dropshot to concede the game.

Gael did it FINALLY. Twilight I think Toad will beat Rafa and make the final yet again where, appropriately, he will complete a triumvirate of losses in the RG final to each of our Big Three.

And what happened right after the Wimbledon breakthrough last year? 5 straight 1r exits. And why has she played two Challengers this year? Something odd is up with her. Li Na did very well to win that match today. From 0-3 down in the third!

Gael got a bit lucky with the match suspension. I would have favored Ferrer in five if it was all played on the same day, especially considering Gael rolled an ankle just before the stoppage last night.

I read on ESPN that she played the Prague challenger instead of Rome because she had made a commitment before she became big and wanted to honour that commitment. Not sure why she played in Nassau.
