Me too.
For starters, Serena drew exactly the 1-8 seed I wanted her to draw.

I'm pleased too. Serena drawing Maria or Woz would have been funnier, but this is welcome too. Relieved it wasn't Petra or Na. For once Na got an awesome draw!
Having said that, this does lend itself alarmingly well to a Silliams/Sharapova final.

Same here! I really wanted her to get Azarenka. I can't find much to complain with regarding this draw. Wonder where Woz will falter.

By the way, Good Luck to Wozzy. After what happened at RG and Wimbledon I have no hopes for her but hey, if I root for hopeless Hidden Worlders and Mirjana Lucic, I can root for Woz, too.

I agree that all signs point to a Silliams-Sharapova final, but they each have their fair share of potential danger opponents, so if they get there, they will deserve to be there.
I'm not totally against that final per se, but I wish it wouldn't be such a foregone conclusion were it to occur.

It's a good draw for Woz; I don't really see anyone stopping her before the SF save a healthy Petko (or Li if she can stop her slide, but I'm not optimistic). But Woz somehow finds a way to blow even the easiest of draws, lately...would be pretty funny if Sucky Sweater finally stopped her slide by making a big Woz-killing run here.

Sweta did come out of similar sucky form to make the RG QF. Then again, Unforced Errani is exactly the kind of 1R opponent she'd lose to. Hantuchova seems like a potential Woz beater; I mean, if she's losing to McHale, an inspired King could do it.
Petkovic might lose to Zheng in R2?
Watching Li now and she's not looking particularly good, but she pretty much has a bye to the last 16.
LOL, Cetkovska in R2 for BAG again.
I can't see Kvitova losing before the last 16, but if she's still playing as badly as she has been, A-Rad looks more likely to come through there.

I was thinking before the draw that SF or better constitutes a good tournament for Wozniacki and I still think so having seen the draw. I know, she's #1, nothing else than victory counts. But really, SF would be good.
On the other hand, losses to Vinci, McHale, Hantuchova and Cibulkova in recent weeks have dented my confidence in her. Everybody prior to the quarters should be easy for in-form Wozniacki. But is this in-form Wozniacki? Maybe watch out for a Vesnina shock upset in R2.
Jovanovski is a player who might cause Serena some trouble if she has a good day. But she probably won't.
We know that Azarenka CAN beat Serena it just seems like she will NOT this time. If she doesn't, it really does seem to throw the top half open for Serena. Jankovic has a good record against Serena but it seems more likely than not that Jelena won't get that far. It also seems more likely than not that if she does, Serena will win anyway.
All that said, I'm not ready to hand Serena the trophy. I think there's a healthy chance she might get stopped.
Venus, on the other hand, is a non-factor. She won't win. She might cause some trouble and beat some people but a title is out of the question. I like Lisicki to beat her in round 2.
Sharapova got the dream draw. I expect her in the semis. Kvitova could beat her but it seems likely that post-Slam-win-suck will take her out of this. Radwanska is playing well but I'd expect any meeting of the two to be like their French Open encounter. Close-ish, but no cigar. Or maybe even one-sided to Sharapova. Fast hardcourt seems like it would benefit her in that match-up.
Stupid predictions I have no confidence in:
QF: Woz-Li, Serena-Schiavone, Maria-Rad, Bartoli-Lisicki.
SF: Li-Serena, Maria-Bartoli
F: Serena-Maria
W: Serena.

Predix, pending qualifiers - the right qualifier into the right section could change everything (what I'm saying is, please can Voskoboeva land near Sharapova).
Hantuchova d. Wozniacki Li d. Zheng S.Williams d. Cetkovska Pavlyuchenkova d. Schiavone A.Radwanska d. Kvitova Sharapova d. Peng Stosur d. Bartoli V.Williams d. Zvonareva
Li d. Hantuchova S.Williams d. Pavlyuchenkova Sharapova d. A.Radwanska V.Williams d. Stosur
S.Williams d. Li Sharapova d. V.Williams
S.Williams d. Sharapova (6-1 6-3 or something)

Amazing. Of all the Q spots she could have landed in Schiavone got both Erakovic AND Voskoboeva, the two toughest qualifiers I would say "bad luck" for Lucic but really, would she have beaten any of the Qs. Please, please let Mrs Krumm's injury be non-severe...she has a golden first couple of rounds. With how Li played yesterday, possibly even a shot at further.

Sooo...Zvonareva def. Silliams.

Isn't Petkorazzi broken as well?
Actually, thinking about it, if she is then this isn't a bad chance for Zheng to reach her third Slam SF as an unseeded player.

She is, but I think less so than Peng, who has been slowly falling apart all summer after her 112-45 first half of the year

Petko was hurt in Cincy.
I guess none of us really believed in Kvitova and with good reason!
