It really was a match Harrison should have won. But, he served and played like shit. Oh well.
I'd hate being a Robson fan. I've seen at least 10 points now where she's blasting huge Kvitova like stuff, then loses the point because she never moves her feet.

Truth be told, it wasn't really a tough draw either. Palindrome sucks. Palindrome was donating plenty of opportunities, too. Second set was a mess, Harrison served for both the last two sets, and was a double mini-break up in the TB. If you're going to be a counterpuncher you need to be able to take opportunities.

The problem is, I don't think Harrison is intending to be a counterpuncher. He takes great pride in his forehand. He's 6'2" for Christ's sake.
I just don't think he's going to be that good. He had some decent results in the early US Open Series, but anyone halfway decent does. And the media seriously better recognize that and lay off him before he gets Oudined.
He's only 19, which is still young for the ATP. Jury's out.

Apparently Venus' opponent still hasn't reached New York. I read that thread and it's such a mess already that I'm not going to believe anything in it. If Vesna is there, she'll play Venus. If not, someone else will.

Serena Williams: Williams played coy at first during a pre-tournament news conference Monday when she was asked what she remembers most from the way her last U.S. Open ended and how “that controversial episode” might have affected the public’s perception of her. “You mean in the singles or doubles?” Williams asked. Then she added: “I just remember I lost, and that was that. I got really popular. A lot of people were telling me they thought I was super cool, that they never saw me so intense. So, yeah, it was awesome.” Asked whether she learned anything from what happened in 2009, Williams replied: “I don’t know. I don’t think about it. Are you still thinking about it?” She rolled her eyes as she continued: “Oh, my God. That was, like, two years ago. This is, like, two years later.”

The problem is, I don't think Harrison is intending to be a counterpuncher. He takes great pride in his forehand. He's 6'2" for Christ's sake. I...did not see any reason for him to take great pride in his FH Volleys, maaaaybe, though he missed several key ones so even that praise is a bit "it's the thought that counts". He didn't look 6'2", though I guess Cilic would dwarf even that.

She rolled her eyes as she continued: Oh, my God. That was, like, two years ago. This is, like, two years later. Two years is nothing, Serena. Rage and hate still abound about Henin's famous 19-year-old hand. When was that incident, 9 or 10 years ago? Anyway when Serena came out for her doubles match after the ejection from singles, she & Venus were greeted pretty warmly. Wish I could like and/or root for her now that she's actually working at this sport, but I can't.

Kvitty looks good thus far, although it is batting practice with Pusheru.

Rage and hate still abound about Henin's famous 19-year-old hand. From Serena herself! And she still goes on about all those times she was victimised and wronged if she's given the slightest chance. Stakhovsky just gagged so horribly from *4-2 up in the second against Wussquet.

Kvitty is sucking. I'm curious as to how Corswandt would react to this loss, though. By proclaiming that she'll never ever win anything big on hardcourt? Only on super-fast surfaces? She's dominating the match, but she's missing. In unnecessary situations. A lot. Blew 3 set points with stupid errors and is now playing the tie-break.
