Veras black ribbon must be getting worn out. Also, she seems to have lately found god. Those were my opening thoughts.

Vera just tanked in the end. Hmm.

Haha despite posting predictions this morning I managed to completely forgot this was happening anyway. Not that it sounds like I missed anything. Why is Woz/A-Rad the most attractive match of the day? Fucked if I'm spending a minute on Ma$ha/Samanantha.

4-5 0-40 down and then A-Rad starts to play really well! She'll serve for the set! As we all know, that always bodes well in Women's Tennis.

A set and a break for A-Rad...will that be enough?

She keeps playing sloppily to get broken back.

They still haven't got rid of on-court coaching! Is this ever going to happen? God, just go away shouty Piotr Wozniacka.

This match was the one I was wondering about. Interesting that Radwanska stole the first set from Woz like that!
Zvonareva looks like the pigeon in this group. I could see her going 0-3.

Wow, A-Rad looked down and out and collapsed at 2-4 0-40, then suddenly turned it ON again - the deuce point was amazing - and then Woz DFed on BP, lol.

Sharapova on the verge of losing to Stosur in front of a crowd.

Haha, yay Sammy! But Maria still has her dorky New Jersey Nets bf, so maybe she doesn't mind losing to a player I don't think (?) she's ever lost to before.

NID IMO. Sharapova has not been in good form since US Open.

NID IMO. Sharapova has not been in good form since US Open. The turned ankle did not help. I don't care, though. Stosur was 0-9 going in. Beating Maria is huge whatever form she was in. This actually throws that group in doubt. One win over Li or Azarenka would be enough to get Stosur through, probably. Also, you have to think Sharapova is in tough to qualify for the semis now. That was supposed to be the easy match. Azarenka has beaten her before and comprehensively. So has Li, and it's about time for Na to win some matches again. Radwanska will be disappointed to lose but getting one set might be good enough. She has a good record against Vera and might beat Petra too. "Usually with the first match of the first day at 5pm on a weekday, it's hard for people to come. During the weekdays they have to work. But we had a full stadium," Zvonareva said. "It feels like people planned and they knew about it. I didn't expect something like this. When we both walked on the court everyone was applauding and supporting us during the match. It was incredible. I felt it was a great atmosphere." That's the biggest surprise of the day.

"He told me that I should be the one deciding where to play the ball," she said. "And to step into court a little bit." Because I can't figure this out for myself even though the whole world's been screaming it at me for 2 years? Oh, my. I want to root for you, but you make it so damned hard.

Those year-round 10Ks paid off!
If Li feels like getting back into form, she has the perfect group to do it in. Obviously not Stosur, but she's basically owned Sharapova and Azarenka of late.

Aza is owning Stosur right now. Beating Maria after 9 straight losses to her must have fried all poor Sam's mental energy.
