It's out! Wozniacki's opening rounds look pretty easy, even with her DYING WRIST, JJ notwithstanding (sigh). But then St. Kim/Lee Na. Ouch. Speaking of which, the repeat of last year's final in R16? Why is Cetkovska seeded? Azza's section is a snoozefest until the quarters. Maybe Pennetta can do something about it. Probably not. Wickmayer vs Voskoboeva could be an interesting first rounder. So much for that section. Azza vs Radwanska QF, zzzzzz. Now it gets interesting! Zvonareva to lose to Dulgheru in R1?! Why not? If not, she should get smacked by KKKanepi in R3. Serena has it easy in the first two rounds. Maybe Sexi Domi can trouble her? But Serena vs Masha is looking a likely QF. But, uh-oh! Dulko drew yet another top seed in early rounds! Masha better hope she doesn't start menstruating at the sight of Dulko, like top players sometimes tend to do. Oh wait, Sweata is in there too. She's due for her patented BS run. Hopefully not here. I want my Serena vs Masha double bagel, and it HAS to happen eventually. Stosur to lose to Cirstea immediately? Dokic vs Chakvetadze. LOL. Anyway, the winner should be devoured by the CAKE. Maybe Jie-Jie somehow makes it to the QF in that section. If BAG loses to LDL, she should retire on spot. Hopefully she lives long enough to meet Kvitova. Kvitty has it easy until the semis, I'd think.

BAG! Niculescu seeded at a Slam LOL @ Bepa's nightmare section. SF points off and an appropriate way to begin her decline. The window has shut. Petrova gifted with Stosur...I agree with Joana, a Jie run out of that section is plausible and would be welcome. Daniilidou isn't a bad 1R for Mrs. Krumm. Predix. Wozniacki d. Jankovic Clijsters d. Li Azarenka d. Rezai A.Radwanska d. Schiavone Williams d. Kanepi Sharapova d. Peer Zheng d. Petrova Kvitova d. Pavlyuchenkova Clijsters d. Wozniacki Azarenka d. A.Radwanska Williams d. Obviously I predicted the grossest ending, but I wouldn't be surprised if Li d. Clijsters and Kvitova d. Silliams to give us a Li/Kvitova final - those two matches are maybe my most anticipated of the tournament.

Oh and i'd love for Barty to beat Sunshine in round 2. Something like 06 76 75. The meltdown combined with the ridiculous hype would be amazing.

Oh and i'd love for Barty to beat Sunshine in round 2. Something like 06 76 75. The meltdown combined with the ridiculous hype would be amazing. Especially if Barty then lost to, like, Cornet in the next round. Well, again...I'm just not as excited about this draw as I am about the men's draw. I dunno. Maybe I do need players to hate! But it's actually because I expect it to go something like below. I stopped caring halfway through typing it up. R16: Wozniacki-McHale, Hantuchova-Li, Azarenka-Pennetta, Schiavone-Radwanska, Kanepi-Williams, Scheepers-Kerber, Petrova-Bartoli, Bondarenko-Kvitova QF: Wozniacki-Li, Azarenka-Radwanska, Williams-Kerber, Bartoli-Kvitova SF: Wozniacki-Azarenka, Williams-Kvitova F: Azarenka def. Williams

That last result = so not gonna happen in this or any lifetime. Azza has a strong chance of backing into a Slam win if everyone gets injured or Serena w/ds to attend Kim Kardashian's next wedding but zero of beating Serena in a Slam final.
God, that Jeepers run could well happen.

I just don't know what form Serena is in, and my mind keeps wandering back to the USO final. If Serena is exhausted and frustrated, Azza could repeat her Miami heroics.

This draw has plenty of WTFBBQ factor, doesn't it?
A lot depends on things we have no way of knowing. What will Clijsters play like? Will she be in -winning form or will she feel like losing another match to Arantxa Rus? I think it'll be more like the latter. She might be gone even before she reaches Li.
Woz isn't very inspiring lately but I could see her surviving the top quarter.
A few days ago I picked Azarenka since why the hell not? We've had three consecutive surprise Slam winners. Why not four?
Then she won in Sydney. I suppose that's a good or a bad sign depending on how you look at it. But I might as well stay with her as my pick. No doubt she'll break a nail and retire in the third round now.
Rezai v. Peng is an interesting 1r. Probably Aravane will take a set and lose the match like usual.
BMS-Radwanska is interesting too. Why do I fear the best moments of this tournament will come early?
I think Azarenka might have more trouble with Radwanska if they play again in the QF. Azza played well in Sydney but Aga got a bit tired.
I guess everybody thinks Kanepi is going to do very well but I don't know. She's so up-and-down.
Wouldn't it be so amazing if Paszek won?
I find it hard to believe that there really is someone named Bojana Bobusic.

Kim and Serena both looked strong in Brisbane until their non-serious injuries. I was gonna pick Li over Clijsters but then remembered how dominant the Saint looked in her last set against Ivanovic - I know, only BAG, but she played superbly.
All through last year's US hard court season and the USO until the final, Serena was playing GOAT tennis, way better than the shoddy stuff she played to BS her way to eg AO '09. And I think there's something about her home Slam that makes her extra edgy emotionally - she always seems more relaxed and drama-free in Australia, maybe because it's so far away.
Kanepi tends to go on multi-tournament streaks, so a strong AO would fit in with her career pattern, but I do think her Brisbane level was significantly higher than even her previous best form.
All the drama queen Ma$ha fans at the World are pissing their pants about Dulko. God, I wish that was the Dulko of a few years ago, then they'd actually have reason for it.
Robson got JaJa in the first round...she stretched her in the Wimbledon 1R a few years ago. I don't expect her to win but she's much better, and JaJa much worse, now.

Looks like my de facto qualifier picks are:
PAVLOVIC, Irena, CHANG, Kai-Chen, ROBSON, Laura
RISKE, Alison, SAVINYKH, Valeria, HLAVACKOVA, Andrea
I think my first group is a bit better.
