"I went today to cheer for Ayumi and Erika. The Morita vs Larcher De Brito match deserves a couple of words due to the drama in it.
"The match was WTA at its very best. Some of the line calling was very questionable for both players. Larcher De Brito questioned a couple of calls and moved on. Ayumi on the other hand, got very frustrated and would keep talking to her coach between points and threw her racket often, even being told by the umpire to 'keep your racket in your hands please.' After being up 5-4 in the final set and serving for the match, Ayumi was down 5-6 and somehow pulled it back to take it to the tiebreak. At 4-4 in the tiebreak, she lost a point and was down on her serve, so threw her racket towards where the spectators were stood. Had there not been a fence, someone could seriously have been hurt. After several warnings earlier on in the match, Ayumi got a code violation and a point penalty. Now down a match point, she took a ball from a ballboy, hit it over the fence in frustration and was given a game penalty, making it game set and match for Larcher De Brito. Ayumi was furious and refused to shake the umpires hand, stormed off the court throwing her bag at her coach and walked off.
"I was really quite disappointed by it all. First of all , there was no excuse for her behaviour when the calls were effecting Michelle as well. And also that she gave up so easily when effectively she was points away from winning. Really, really disappointing to see that as a fan of hers for over 6 years."
