WHAT
Fuck Australian time zones, seriously fuck them. Looks like Serena was pretty seriously injured. Why do that at a time like this? When you're the only thing standing in front of Azza/Shazza, and against an opponent I've been happily proclaiming overhyped? (I hold to that, credit to Sloane for closing her out though, and thus establishing her superiority over the likes of Hantuchova.)

Q. Could you tell us what you think of her as a player and how far she's going to push on from here. SERENA WILLIAMS: She's a good player. She runs fast and she gets a lot of balls back. That's always a plus to have in your career. LOL, we've changed our tune from gushing over how great she'll be

Post by lexpretend on Jan 23, 2013 2:45:10 GMT -5
Q. How much better did you play today than you did in your fourth round match? SLOANE STEPHENS: I mean, it's definitely it's really tough, because people say that like you don't have tough matches, like if you play someone that's like your age. But it's definitely harder playing like Laura Robson or Jovanovski, someone who sis your age, rather than playing someone like if I played Vesnina. Like it wouldn't be like you don't feel as much pressure playing Vesnina, but you feel a lot of pressure playing someone who is your age, who you're close to. Oh is this why Vesnina whomped you 2 and 2 last week?

I don't know about Serena's injury - unfortunately I was out while this was happening and did not see one point of that match. I gather that Serena was ahead a set and a break and seemed to be rolling through same as usual. Serena always, always, always claims an injury in every single loss so I tend to disregard them. I am impressed that Sloane was able to close it out from 4-all in the third. It's always nice when Serena wins Brisbane instead of AO. Now Serena can go away for three months. Right as rain, I'm sure she'll win Wimbledon again. As for everything else, I like Maria here. She's the form player and I think she'll win a final with Vika, A.K.A. Scream 2.

I got the injury information from Twitter, in real time, not from Serena. It was apparently pretty serious. As far as I understand Serena got that latest injury after already losing a break in the 2nd, at something like 4-3 And Serena was actually ahead in the 3rd (4*-3), and had break point again later on at 4-4* So she had her chances even after all the injuries. Obviously this back injury hindered her. It took away some of her serve, and well... Serena with a weaker serve is beatable as we all know. Serverena would have never lost to Sloane Stephens. This Tsonga-Fed match is good And lol @ ES commentator calling Fer forehand errors 'unusual'
