Kiki M's groundies are impressive when she's on, but I still think she has too many hitches to be consistently good.

Mona wins! I only watched from 5-2 second set so it was mostly Errani's FIGHTING!!11~ and Mona errors plus a couple of flashy winners here and there. If Errani had somehow taken it to three, I think she'd have won but credit to Mona for playing some smart tennis in the tb.

Well, she does like to come into the net. The bad news is she suuuuuuucked at net today. Like, she should never come in. Ever. Just because she sucked at the net yesterday doesn't mean she must be discouraged of doing it in other matches. I still remember the 1st time I really watched Vaidisova's match was vs Mauresmo at AO, and she was abysmal at the net. I was convinced she should never try that again, and yet later that year she beat the same Mauresmo (at RG?) by doing the same only actually volleying well that time. So I'm all for anyone who wants to do different things on court, we have more then enough baseliners. Question: Why everyone loves Mona so much?

The few times I saw her play was in doubles actually and she was always the best player among the 4 on court. The fact that she won the Masters in Montreal teamed up with a Jans Ignacik speaks volumes for her abilities. Knowing that Ignacik has absolutely no serve or groundstrokes Kiki must've done wonders for that team at the net.
I wonder the same about Mona. And I think it's her skin condition. Because her game is just plain, generic.

I don't "love" Mona, but it's slim pickings at the moment and I like the game. What is her skin condition anyway? I noticed but didn't comment on it.

Just because she sucked at the net yesterday doesn't mean she must be discouraged of doing it in other matches. I do agree. And she probably just had a really bad day. REALLY bad. I love Mona because, as Ali said, who else am I supposed to love?

Yeah we already did that this time last year. The Real #2 hasn't won a match in her last 4 Grand Slam tournaments. Oh, well, Grand Slams. Who cares about them, anyway? -- janie wozniacki

Please don't marry into that family, Janie. I'm already sad about Rory.

Mona has the potential to be good. Good serve, all her strokes are sound, can hit winners from anywhere, and not totally useless at defense like most girls her height. And most importantly, she's not annoying. I don't know why she loses 16 16 to Lauren Davis in slams.

She really and truly must have hit nearly triple-digit UEs in that match. No other explanation, right?

From what we know of Mona's coaching situation and overall casual approach to her career, I doubt she's that ambitious tennis-wise. Probably has other options in life and is able to put the sport in perspective. So she'll never max out her talent, but a Premier title and top 30 ranking is pretty good right now.
There's something about the way her strokes connect that puts her way beyond "generic", imo. And she's a remarkably complete player by SEWTA standards.
