Even with no match practice and his form being a completely unknown quantity, I don't think it's even physically possible for Rafa to lose here. The Principality must be devastated, no easy titles at these local events this year.

The only person I can see potentially upsetting him is Chardy.

Christian Garin, who is a 16-year-old I'd never even heard of before, won his MD match against Lajovic First 16-yr-old to win an ATP match since...I have no idea, I'm guessing Wuss?

I'm watching Rafa's doubles match, that's how much I missed him.
My kitty Rafa right by my side.

So Rafa (and Juan) won, and the post-match ceremony took more time then the match itself. They presented Rafa with bunch of stuff for some reason and Rafa wrote them an essay. The crowd chanted.

This tournament should be a breeze for him.
Nice to have Rafa back - it'll balance the draws at the Slams again (unless he stays at #5 ... ).

He doesn't have that much scope for moving up from #5 before RG (or Wim), does he?

Rafa wasn't very good in the 1st set, very rusty. A little bit better in the 2nd, the forehand was better. Just happy that he's back.

He doesn't have that much scope for moving up from #5 before RG (or Wim), does he? He'll add in the next few weeks, could add at IW, Miami and maybe he will win Madrid? I don't want to say he CAN'T move back up since he has been known to sweep all 3 clay MS in the past. But that's probably what it would take.

It was LOL bad from Rafa at the end. He broke for 1-0 and then TTR.

Shiiiiiiiit.
I watched the end of the first set; Rafa was pretty bad (especially on return) and Zeballos was smacking everything as hard as he could. But after Zeballos screwed up the TB, I thought that would be it...

Rafa's losses in clay court finals, all time: Federer, Federer, Djokovic, Djokovic, Zeballos.
