Player list: www.copabionaire.co/players.aspxThe WTA site has this listed with their tournaments, so I suppose we should do the same. Here's the exciting Q draw: (1)Kozlova v Melichar Thorpe v (8)Perrin (2)Riske v Kalashnikova Pekhova v (5)Zec-Peskiric (3)Parra Santonja v Piter Gamiz v (7)Perez (4)Ferrer Suarez v Garcia Vidagany Linette v (6)Bogdan

The WTA may run these, but I really hope they don't count them as normal WTA tournaments...ATP Challengers don't count, so why should these? No event with Mandy Minella as its top seed is anything more than Hidden World level.
(1)Mandy Minella v Q (wc)Maria Fernanda Alves v Mariana Duque-Marino Grace Min v Julia Cohen Anastasija Sevastova v (6)Elina Svitolina
(3)Alexandra Cadantu v Laura Pous-Tio Stephanie Dubois v Sesil Karatantcheva (wc)Catalina Castano v Q Eva Birnerova v (7)Nina Bratchikova
(5)Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor v Paula Ormaechea Estrella Cabeza Candela v Q Eugenie Bouchard v Ajla Tomljanovic Q v (4)Alexandra Panova
(8)Tatjana Malek v Sharon Fichman Teliana Pereira v (wc)Yuliana Lizarazo Dinah Pfizenmaier v (wc)Alexandra Dulgheru Chiara Scholl v (2)Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino

I know; it's bizarre. But I think they do regard the winners of these as having won "a WTA title". I'm too lazy to check that, but I think I checked after the fall ones and that was the case.

It is. Mladenovic and Svitolina are WTA Tour titlists.

Dulgheru d. Pfizenmaier 67(10) 75 63 First set TB Dulgheru's ranking has plummeted to 583, but at least she seems healthy again...

She'll re-injure herself soon if she has to play many matches like that.

Sesil beats Dubois despite serving 24 DFs. I'm excited to see that Duque knocked out top seed Minella. Could she claim her 2nd WTA title this week? And Ormaechea The Next Pitu beat Candle Head. And don't worry, Cohen lost.

SFs are Svitolina vs. Castano and Ormaechea vs. LAV.
Hmm, just remembered that this time last year, Ormaechea was being somewhat hyped after her AO run, but the unheralded LAV beat her in Bogota and went on to win the title. A year on, LAV is in the top 100 and Ormaechea is barely clinging to the top 200.

Reports coming from Cali are describing Svitolina as just another tantrum-throwing shrieking banshee.
Embarrassing for the tour, indeed.

I wasn't impressed with her when I saw her vs. BAG at the USO last year. I mean, she's good enough to have a top 50, maybe top 30 career. Not much more than that, though. As this result amply demonstrates.

She was a favorite pick of mine when I played the TF 10K game. She has really (obviously) come far since then, zooming up the ranks like Errani did.

As long as she doesn't lose to Castano tomorrow.
