The article says is more likely to be brain inflammation, possibly caused by an insect bite Scary.

Only saw this on Twitter this afternoon - apparently viral meningitis which, while still sub-optimal, is much less scary than a stroke.

Remembering back to Biology 101 I think viral meningitis is the less severe form (though still horrible obviously). The bacterial meningitis going through West Hollywood right now is much more fatal.
