This probably doesn't warrant its own thread on here. But, who has seen it? For some reason they aired it on UK TV this week (and are now releasing it in cinemas? Whut.
Aside from some footage of them as kids (that I saw from the snippet anyway), there really wasn't much else.
Some nice moments/touching comments on Sisterly Love; Oracene just generally being Awesome; and some stupid section on the USO '11 final with Serena basically coming across like like a 7 y/o.

Oracene was the secret star of it.
Behind-the-scenes footage was interesting, but apart from that the only non-hagiographic element of it was the tiny bit of divorce gossip. The Williamses have controlled their story (and it's mythic elements) so tightly over the years that it was hard to imagine them really opening up at this point. If any of the really juicy shit is coming out at all, they're saving it for post-retirement autobiographies.
It was slightly amusing that not one of their rivals was ever mentioned by name, and only briefly shown at all.
That said, fawning aside, it was a reminder that their story is a pretty special one.

I'd like to see it sometime. Oracene deserves to be a star!

Sounds fairly similar to a version that was on Tennis Channel a few years ago. Some stuff on their childhood, which the girls don't talk much about, and their story is an amazing one. Along with trying to figure out what goes on in Serena's head. And then the boring stuff with them being super popular celebrities but giving back with charity, caring about the people, blah blah blah... and of course, nobody else on tour matters.

It didn't delve into this, but there were a couple of asides that showed that Venus reaaaaaally doesn't care about winning or losing any more, but she also reaaaaaally doesn't want to quit. Which is exactly how it appears.

What's her motivation then? The lifestyle? She just really likes playing tennis so why not get paid to do it? Surely she could make just as much doing exhibitions if she doesn't care about being competitive?

They love the attention. I would expect that more from Serena, though. As I've mentioned many times, it is not going to be pretty when Serena finally has to retire, she will not go gracefully.

I saw Eleven clothes in Madrid. I cannot imagine a person other than a blind fan buying that crap. She's still better at tennis than anything else.

What kind of a farewell are you expecting? Keep everyone hanging and fade into oblivion (Seles, Kournikova, Capriati), come back every now and then (Davenport, Henin, Clijsters, Hingis), never leave (Navratilova, Hingis), the farewell tour (Evert), or the going out on top (Graf)?

Oh, you know they'll try for "going out on top", but tbh "never leave" is a strong contender at this point.

The way Steffi did it was the best but I honestly can't see it being replicated. I mean, if anyone could with this field it's Serena but as you said Alex, she'll try for going out on top but agreed that she might go on too long and then just hang around.

Oh, you know they'll try for "going out on top", but tbh "never leave" is a strong contender at this point. It won't happen. Look at Venus already. Serena is loving tennis again now, but remember that in the past she's lost interest for months/years at a time and seemed not to care. If that happens again at say, age 35, it wouls be a lot harder to come back and return to the top. I guess I kind of see that happening again, with her eventually making a failed "comeback" and walking away in a huff.

I think Serena will go similarly to Roddick. She'll be among the top players until her late 30s with her unmatched power, but not a seriously contender to win things, and eventually she'll get tired of that. However, she'll round the "celebrity" circuit until she's Z-list, and I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up like Amanda Bynes grasping for the last bits of attention. That will be the sad part.

I'm guessing you're right about her celebrity evolution. However, I'm worried she'll still be winning Slams in her late 30s. Wimbledon 2020. Don't say it can't happen.
