Roger's not taking #5 sitting down. He's sure taking it bending over though. But I'm sure there will be some horrible Sampras-style last-minute Slam to piss me off.

He's in danger of falling behind Berdpoo and Del Porto before US Open too I could see him bug serving to win Wimbly, but that's it.

Last year's Wim felt like his last-minute Slam after everyone had written him off.
New racquet is an excuse for these two weeks and yes, it indicates that he's not accepting it's TTR, but I don't think it changes anything in the larger picture.
