It saddens me that nobody has humored me for the only tournament this year I bothered to watch. Hmph.

I'm totally mesmerized by that gif.
I watched the SF (taped) and final live, I'm very happy with the level of Rafa's tennis. Didn't expect him to beat Novak on hard. After all Sky Sports commentator announced this is Murray & Djokovic era and Rafa is way past it apparently.

I don't know if it's that Rafa hasn't been this good in years, that the tb against Djokovic and the entire match against Raonic made him look better than he is, or what, but it's certainly hard to argue against his scheduling decisions at this point.

I do wish the commentators would stop saying Rafa hasn't lost on hardcourt yet this year, though. True, but not a large enough sample size to be interesting.

Cause obviously 'everyone' predicted/hoped, that he won't be winning anything outside of clay this year (or ever). I'm just happy to see him playing. I didn't even care for that early Wimbledon loss as long as he actually returned on hard courts, and not just missed the rest of the year. His forehand looked really good in the SF and F. And serve as well.

Is he? I hope not. I'd love for him to be able to play week in and week out again. Nice ending for the tournament! Except for Canada, of course, but then you had that great Olympics, you can't have everything.

Sorry, that post referred to some earlier one about Rafa pulling out of Cincy.
I have to regard it as a VERY good sign that even Lady was happy with the level of Rafa's tennis! That has to be good. I'm rooting for him to win the USO.

I'm 99% sure the ump can change after calling the score, but changing after seeing a replay on the big screen opens up a can of worms, especially when there's a local player involved. I don't see why this should be controversial, calling lines is not the only tennis rule that deserves to be checked. Human error (and in this case the impossibility of the ump looking in two places at once) means things will inevitably get missed.
