Because this apparently exists. Stacey Allaster's bid to move the entire tour to China continues apace. I guess a good chance for the CHN girls to claw back some easy points after their federation wrecked their seasons with the stupid National Games.
Tammy is here but hasn't entered USO qualies. Surely it really is :ttr: now.
I know Saisai's early season was derailed when her dad died, but she's in danger of falling out of the top 200 now.

At least Tammy won her r1 match. So did Lurch and The Zar of KAZ tennis. So-Ra Lee also moved on to r2, after her opponent retired. Talk about luck: Lee, a LL, had lost her FQR match 06 06.

There's more of these coming in fall. Are they official SEWTA titles?

According to the WTA, yes, they are. Svitolina's page on their site states that she has 2 WTA titles. No asterisk.
According to wikipedia's Svitolina page, though, Elina has just 1 WTA title. Wikipedia is unfair to Pune!

I read this at TF:
Babos went to the wrong city---another Suzhou in Jiangsu province.
But she got to the right Suzhou today and won already!

LOL @ Babos! Giant Duan retired injured in R1 So sad - she worked to get her ranking high enough for Wimbledon direct entry and only a few points from the top 100. The two basic goals of being a tennis pro. And the Chinese federation took them away from her, and now she's injured and sinking.

QFs:
(1) Timea BABOS (HUN) vs. (7) Tamarine TANASUGARN (THA) (3) Shahar PEER (ISR) vs. (6) Yi-Miao ZHOU (CHN) Saisai ZHENG (CHN) vs. (4) Shuai ZHANG (CHN) Eri HOZUMI (JPN) vs. (2) Misaki DOI (JPN)
When Svitolina won Baku, the WTA site trumpeted that she'd won her FIRST title, so it's entirely possible that SEWTA itself has no idea whether these count as proper titles or not. I'll just go on assuming not.

I'll just go on assuming not. Did they?? While on the very same official website, she's credited with two? Good old SEWTA!

SFs: Peer d. Babos 61 63 Zheng d. Doi 75 62 Hopefully Saisai wins the title - a nice return to form for her. Peer and Doi both back in the top 100 now.

Wow! What a long road back it's been for Peer. Hard to believe she reached #11. Very happy for both her and Saisai.

Bit of an underwhelming result. Shahar is so adept at vulturing whenever she slumps, wish more players could learn from her.
