Oops! They shouldn't have it on their web site. But thanks for the tip; I'll fix the post.

Goooo Ons (but I thought she was going to have surgery?). Unfortunately she lost in Q2.

If the ankle is bothering her she should just have surgery. She shouldn't be losing in Tashkent qualies.
I love Tashkent. Forgot that Begu is defending champion, her ranking is going to die if she doesn't string some wins together. Hope Abduraimova can get a win or two here!

Assuming Nigina can't do anything, I'm pulling for a Glushko - Vekic final. Glushko was so close to upsetting Hantu in NY, I'd like to see her to build from that.

Nigina was a set away from the USO MD! Cetkovska's tough though.

Yeah, that's just what I thought. Wish she had drawn "A. Folts [wc]". Tsurenko lost already. Way to seize the day, Ms. 2-seed!

I watched a bit of Abduraimova yesterday. She's actually a very decent player, especially when behind - she broke Cetkovska back twice when Petra was serving for the match. Good groundstrokes and movement, just still very raw. But she has top 100 talent, easily. She's been getting WCs into this event since she was 14, so it's surprising to realise she's still quite young - just turned 19. Hope to see more of her in the future.

I hope so, too. Meanwhile, Vekic lost to Govortsova. I'm losing interest fast.

Ozaki vs Burnett is a good match happening right now. Knew nothing about either player but some of these rallies are great - Burnett is bashing away, like a slightly more effortful Giorgi; Ozaki is keeping up with her, changing direction well and hitting some great wrong-footers.
Burnett is unfortunately obnoxious with her "c'mon"s off Ozaki errors, though.

Also, that is a terrible loss for Vekic. Being so far ahead of your peers is all very impressive until you flop in this kind of match - this year she's been treading water rather than progressing.

Burnett is very talented but sooooo over-emotional. And very annoying to watch.
I'm quite impressed that she's reasonably fast around the court as well as powerful, and her instincts when the match gets tight are to be even more aggressive whereas Ozaki seems to have backed off a touch.

Third-set TB thanks to a point in which Ozaki opened up the court beautifully with a slice BH.

It ends with 2 ugly UEs from Ozaki, though. A shame.

AAARGH. At 4-4 in the TB, Ozaki set up the point beautifully then overcooked the wrong-footer wide. Then at 4-6 she missed the easiest putaway. Cue obnoxious celebrations from Burnett

Has there ever been a tall Japanese?

I can't think of one. Asagoe never seemed especially short but 170cm isn't tall either. And unlike CHN, I doubt the Japanese federation is scouring the country for Duan-style exceptions.
QFs, and yes, it's all gone a bit uninspiring:
(1) Bojana JOVANOVSKI (SRB) vs. (7) Galina VOSKOBOEVA (KAZ) (3) Yvonne MEUSBURGER (AUT) vs. Maria Teresa TORRO FLOR (ESP) (5) Alexandra CADANTU (ROU) vs. Olga GOVORTSOVA (BLR) Mandy MINELLA (LUX) vs. Nastassja BURNETT (ITA)
Really hope Voskoboeva wins, she's too good to be titleless.
