Evans is playing very well now. Up 4-1 in the 4th. Bernie is flummoxed -- for now; we'll see if there's another choke ...

Tomic is all but tanking.
From what I saw of the last point, Barthel WAS tanking.

Tomic is all but tanking. That comes and goes, though. Strong start for Kirilenko!

That was just so fun. 1-6 1-2 and then this. True, Bernie's not a warrior's warrior out there, but Dan took it to him.
And they say Dan has "turned his life around" so maybe he's not even a jerk. I hope not because I enjoy having a Brit to root for. And a 1-handed BH.

And MK broken when serving for the set. PLEASE do not fall under the spell of the de Brittle theatrics, Masha!

I had no idea about the assault, so hmph. It was a nice performance and his volleys were very good. Cringe interview after the match when the Sky Sports lead presenter asked, somewhat patronisingly, about his prize money for reaching 3R.
Shitra won. What.

She did? I somehow completely missed that. Good for her, 2 rounds!

Once upon a time there was a king. His name was King Kolya. Then he died. I was going to say something really anti-Russian here, but then I learned that he applied for Austrian citizenship in 2007. From this I can only assume that he had the good sense to not want to stay Russia, and I chose to remove the insult.

Ewww! The trainer came out for Dan Evans for a "nipple rash"?? Though I personally have never in life moved around enough for something like this to occur, I assure you that this sort of thing is quite common with runners. And that's not even close to being the grossest runners injury. So, I'm not surprised to hear a tennis player have this. You are right to laugh, though. Here is a wiki article on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fissure_of_the_nippleGross, but not unusual.

One commentator is saying "Tomitch" and the other says "Tomik". We need some Balkan input here to know which is correct! Anyway, nice SEWTAesque choke from Evans just now. Winning a set seems to have frightened him. Come on, Danny, it's just Bernie over there! "Tomitch" is the correct way to say it in Serbo-Croat but the family seems to have Australianised it. Evans was accused of sexual assault a few years ago, I cannot cheer for him until I know how that was resolved. In case you're looking for another reason to not cheer for him, he apparently has a large Jesus tattoo.

the commentators for the Raonic match are not great. Who are these guys? Did they call in the C-team for this?

I want Nadal or Monfils matches to start so badly, just so I don't have to listen to these guys anymore.

It's dawning on me that I'm getting regional feed and won't get any other matches until this is over.

So the long-awaited Isner-Monfils match is underway -- Anyone watching? Any hope?

No, there isn't much hope. First set to Isner. Writing on the wall.
Meanwhile I'm checking in on Vicky, since we probably won't see her again for a while. This match is going as expectec

Yeah, Monfils will not be the Isner dream crusher that I'd hoped he'd be. What about Kohlschreiber? Otherwise it looks like we'll be counting on Rafa to save tennis. Again.

Expected spank down by Rafa.
I'm going to suffer through the end of Monfils and Isner, holding out hope that the spirit of somebody more fit and talented possess Monfils.

You know, I understand that Monfils is flexible and acrobatic and stuff, but is it really necessary to demonstrate that every other point? No wonder he's always injured.
I had clearly forgotten how Monfils plays if this is surprising me.
Monfils finally broke and will hopefully take the third, if only to make this go on for much longer than it needs to.

Wrong. Monfils is a charisma machine, who just happens to also be angling for injury every rally.

The commentators have never before seen an American have the crowd against them in a USO match, presumably because they've never watched womens tennis before. Or a young Agassi. Or McEnroe in his turd days.
