It feels a lot like their Brisbane match. Ostensibly tight, but a bit misleading in that all of Sloane's service games are battles but she hasn't touched Serena's serve (apart from that weird DF game).

Sooooo happy for CSN. Held her nerve for once - third Slam QF and her celebrations were amazing. Had to double up the streams there...
Serena ran away with it easily in the end, unsurprisingly, because Sloane is simply a fine top 20 player, not in any way a talent to rival Serena.

She's improved, though. I honestly thought of her as a McHale-type counterpuncher with more pop on her shots. She could still get better.
And great, great news about CSN! I didn't give her a chance to win that. So glad to be wrong!

Oh, and who didn't know that if Serena won, which we all knew she would, that she'd then follow up by praising Sloane to the skies? So easy to praise players you can crush like ants under your feet. Whereas neither Serena nor Venus nor Oracene EVER said a single good word about Henin.

So how many players copy Rafa now with that hopping around at the net pre-match, swinging their racket around, et? Sharapova does it, Serena did it just now. They look so silly and copycat, sorry. Everyone, even scrubs do it. Why waste energy like that. The Hewitt revival isn't real. Del Pony is the perfect matchup for him, and he beat broken Baker and a scrub. Don't worry, Always Haas should dismiss him pretty easily.

Hopefully you're right about Hewitt.
Remember when Youzhny busted his head open with a racquet on court? He's crazy pants. I don't care who wins this match, though. Also, it's not on my TV, so I'm going to have a nap.

Whereas neither Serena nor Venus nor Oracene EVER said a single good word about Henin. This is why no matter how much I may like the Williams', I always really really want someone to be better than them. Putting Serena in her place would be the sweetest. Alas, that shall never happen.

Everyone, even scrubs do it. Why waste energy like that. I didn't know that! How silly can you get. For Rafa, it's natural, but everyone else just looks like they're foolishly putting on a faux show of strength. I think if I were the opponent I'd feel like laughing. Win or lose, Sloane really does embrace the big stage. Her game still looks weird and she does nothing exceptionally but she doesn't suck choke die. This is what is separating her from other young players with ostensibly more game. Confidence and grit. Wouldn't be surprised if she has a Wozniacki-style career (consistency mixed w/unbearable hype followed by perpetual big-event flops).

Surely you don't count TF stans. Being a native USian, Sloane will get way more actual (that is, media) hype than Woz ever got.

Sloane also hasn't suffered yet in an important setting and she hasn't faced any real expectations yet (although that will soon change), it may be too early to say she's above that yet. SEWTA always disappoints
As much as we hate Woz, her overall game is a lot better than Sloane's

Yes, silly SEWTA. They were so glad to say Good riddance to tense little Henin; so happy to see happy blonde Sunshine "arrive". Only she never did arrive, oops. But unlike SEWTA itself, the world media was hard on Woz from early on. She's number one without a Slam! (Just like Tiger Woods, sure, but that's different because he's secretly still and always the best!)

Sunshine was hyped as a youngster, then she suddenly grew into not being cute so that faded. Then she became "#1" and everyone hated her. And now she's mildly popular in that default area with BAG because we know who they are and nobody cares about any SEWTA beyond Serena and Ma$ha.
