Rooting against: Hantuchova Ivanovic Federer Raonic Everybody else, do your best or whatever Me too besides Dani but like Riske too. I dislike Azza too so that's a win-win since someone goes home. Also had no idea just how weak the women's bottom half is till I saw the oop. What a mess. But I like the surviviors. Halep, Vinci, Riske, Giorgi types.

Kinda reminds me of how the bottom half fell apart in 2007, but, again, the players benefitting are fun types.
Still, the #2 and obvious favorite is still there, so it's not quite the same. She is going to crush Ajde.

It doesn't seem that weak to me
Azza, Vinci, and Halep who will soon be near top 10
I need to watch more Simoona

Yeah, I still need to see Nu Halep properly.
Gotta think Riske has a shot against Hantuchova.

Why are they having 3 women's matches (out of 4) at the same time? Misogyny!

Portuguese! I had to check. janiehub's 9 days here ends this morning. Possibly I'll just loll around & watch tennis all day today. Admittedly I watched more than I expected to while he was here, poor guy.

Why are they having 3 women's matches (out of 4) at the same time? Misogyny! This is annoying, I don't know which to watch. Giorgi/Vinci for the stylistic contrast? Hantuchova for the (hopeful) comedy? Or finally take a good look at Nu Halep.

Thanks for pointing out that it's time to put it on. I think I'll start with Giorgi-Vinci.

I went with Halep. Very high quality from both so far.

Yes, I may switch to that soon. My match is not competitive, but it's a pleasure to watch this new Giorgi, always so perfectly balanced when she hits the ball, so secure and confident out there for a qualifier. I did get tired of watching her the other night vs Woz because she's just a quick-footed ballbasher and the bang bang bang got tiresome. But it's just so stunning that she went from the erratic Giorgi we've all known to suddenly so pinpoint accurate on serve & groundstrokes. Can you imagine the deafening hype by now if she were a US kid?

Never mind! Decided to watch Riske since I'm pretty sure I've never seen her play.

We'd have had it for a year now after she beat Petrova and made the Wim 4R. So weird to think she's made two Slam second weeks and literally nothing else.
Flavia is flying, Simona looking a bit tired.

NOTHING wrong with that set from Flavia, just superb. US Open bringing out the best in her again. Halep hitting a few errors but Pennetta is all over her, she can't do much anyway. Of course, Flavia's been known to choke, especially with the road to her first Slam SF open...

I know Riske is very popular. But SEWTA has enough screamers. Goodbye to her.

Halep is boring to watch. Riske screams. Turned back to the Italians just in time to see Giorgi play a perfect game again. I missed all her flakey moments completely.

I'm seeing nothing of Halep's supposedly new level. It must exist, you can't argue with her results, but right now she just looks like a poor man's Pennetta.

I watched the rest of Vinci-Giorgi. Such a fabulous start from CG, 4-1, but the wily veteran derailed her. Well done, Geezerette Roby!

Vinci was at MP when it started to rain lightly. So impressive from her to serve it out instead of rushing & missing. Of course Giorgi's crapitude at that time in the match helped a lot, but still, of all those women's matches, only Vinci is now resting in her hotel laughing at the world and its rains.
