So first, what is that first XD pairing and how is it in the final.
And secondly, moan moan moan I have to go to a birthday party tonight and I think I'll go early and come back for Serena/Na? Which of course means Flavia/Vika will be a thrilling three-set upset and Serena will win 6-2 6-1.

NYC forecast looks weirdly good this weekend. No Monday final?

The men's final is already planned to be played Monday.

Oh my god. I had no idea. I actually punched the air. This means I can party on Saturday and am unlikely to miss thrillers. Sunday and Monday evening are PERFECT.

This tournament doesn't fit into my schedule at all. Unless I stop going to work and the gym. A friend wants to go drinking tonight so I miss the women's semifinals. I think Li Na has a shot which means Serena wins easily. Of course I want Serena to win the title...azza must be stopped and Li showed she couldn't do it in Australia.

The men's final is already planned to be played Monday. Wow, you're being serious. I thought this was a joke. Nadal has already whined about it for some reason. He's so fussy.

And the womens final is played on Sunday? This feels like an April Fools joke that I just stumbled upon.

And the womens final is played on Sunday? This feels like an April Fools joke that I just stumbled upon. I feel similarly Why the fuck would you purposely put the men's final on a Monday at 5pm? It's like the perfect time so nobody can watch it. This tournament is officially retarded

Does it make such a big difference? It's followed by a workday anyway no matter whether it's played on Sunday or Monday.

Most people are still in work at 5pm, or at best just leaving work. Factor in commuting time and you miss a good chunk of the match.
Any later and it starts at 10pm in Europe (and potentially lasts over 3hrs), which I guess they have to think about.

The only reason it starts at 5pm is because of Monday Night Football here which would further destroy ratings. They'd put it at like 7pm otherwise.

In the US, if any sports scheduling ever seems nonsensical, just look for the money. Here it's TV that's got the big money, so TV is the boss. At this time of year the big dollars for a TV network come from American football. So they had to find times for the finals that wouldn't interfere with tv football. With no male star US players involved, which, like everyone on Earth, the tv bigwigs knew in advance would be the case, they know the audience will be small. So they're cutting their losses by sticking the men's final at a time where no one would be watching tv anyway.

Don't forget also that the men, reasonably enough, demanded a day off between their 5-set SFs and the Final. With the way the USO, alone among the Slams, drags out the rounds for so long, there's no other option than to play the final on Monday. And as Leena said, if it has to be on Monday, there's no way they're going to go up against sacred Monday Night Football.

The men's final will still probably clash with football, though. So it remains stupid.
Whatever, I'm just pissed that I won't get the see the final live for like the 6th straight year now

Wow, even on the groundies Flavs is staying even. What will Azza do? She's going to have to play better than she has been all tournament if she wants to win this. Unless Flavia chokes, of course.

And with Azza now in top gear, Flavia can't keep up. Love it when Azza comes forward; she's so strong from up there. She should play that way all the time.

Haha! And then Azza throws in a clunker of a serve game and is promptly broken. She's just not able to stay keyed in to Top Azza level. And Flavia's not an idiot; she's happy and able to take advantage.
